I read this a while back and was thinking if you used a very small nail, you could just put it through the hole in the middle of the record. It wouldn't be noticeable, you could easily change the records around to get a new look and it wouldn't be as damaging to your walls as the glue. Once I get enough records I'd like to try it out. My boyfriend has a cool record we bought from a local artist in our town. She painted faces of famous people on old records. Totally artistic and a great way to recyle! ... View related article. |

| RE: Can You Get Sick from Thrift Store Items |
I used to work at a thrift store and I never had any problem but I'm not going to say it's not a possibility. If you are concerned I would recommend consignment stores as an alternative. They are still a great way to save money but are much more strict about the quality of items they put out. (And when you bring in your used stuff they will give you a store credit!)
Be selective about the thrift stores you shop at. I used to work at a St Vincent De Paul that was very strict about the condition of the items they put out to sell. Much of my day consisted of cleaning items before we put them out. But the St. Vincent the next town over was terrible. They put out stuff that we would have tossed. I guess it just depends on the management and how well staffed they are. It's a struggle to keep up with the incoming donations and have time to clean. We were lucky to have volunteers and community service workers.
One last little comment I want to leave you with. I work in a grocery store now. My advice, wash everything! Anything you bring in to your home, new or used if it's been in a store, people have fingered and touched all over it and it's filthy. I would never buy anything out of a bulk item bin in a store, especially out of a cookie case, donut case, candy bin etc. People touch everything. Kids put things in their mouth and their parents throw it back in the bin! I watch this all day at work. If your not afraid of the grocery store, I wouldn't shy away from a thrift store either. Can't be much worse!( Hope you have a good immune system) ... View related article. |

| RE: Look for Candles at Thrift Stores |
|
I think it's important to be careful about the kinds of candles you buy. I've started to switch over to soy candles and also beeswax ones. You can find cool ones at your local farmers markets or online. I like to get mine at the farmers markets because they are all natural and it's cool to support the community. ... I use a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe but add white chocolate chips instead or just chunks of cut up white chocolate. I like ghirardelli's chocolate best. Then I add craisins (I'm sure blueberries would work just fine to.) Here's what really makes them, Throw some chopped macadamia nuts in there. Yum! Sometimes I'll use toasted almonds instead. Depends what I have on hand. (I usually just put about 3/4 cup of each.) Bake according to cookie recipe and enjoy. Everyone always loves them. ... View related article. |

He should make a bunch of these and sell them in farmers markets or something. Once he made a sort of assembly line I bet he could whip them out in no time. Okay, so I doubt he will end up doing that but I'm sure a lot of people would love to have one. What a statement piece. ... View related article. |

| RE: Help With Pimples On Forehead |

Wash your face three times a day if you can. At least twice a day. buy some face wash and a sponge. My very favorite product is clean and clear oil blot sheets. They are blue sheets you rub on your face and you can actually see the color of the sheet change as it takes the oil off your skin. Another trick I learned when I was younger is to apply tooth paste to pimples. Let it dry on them. It will dry out the pimple! I read in an article that even though Beyonce is rich she still uses this trick. For big pimples apply a hot washclothe to them and old it on there for a few minutes. best of luck. Hope this helps! ... View related article. |

Buy a bunch of sets of hair clips. Use puffy paint, glitter or small bows of ribbon in school colors to glue on them. How about buying a bunch of those fluffy plastic loofa's (you know those plastic bath sponge thingys.) in school colors and give those to the girls with some travel size body wash. You could also buy a bunch of nail polishes and give those to the girls. Usually Grocery Outlet has good nail polishes (such as revlon) for cheap. Or wet and wild is a good price also. If you end up getting the nail polishes you can buy all different colors but tie plastic ribbon in school colors around the tops and curl it. That would be a really cute added touch. ... I would go to your local bead and jewelery store and buy some nice glass beads (glass beads are beautiful and inexpensive!) using school colors (or varying colors in the same color family) some jewelery wire or sting and clasps. You could make necklaces or bracelets! This is an inexpensive gift and girls love, love, love jewelry. If you make the jewelry look classy and unique it might be something the girls will always keep. It would make a found memory to commemorate their time at school and on the squad! Good luck. ... View related article. |
