RE: Dog Going To the Bathroom Inside at Night
I have a 4 year old Cairn Terrier mix that I rescued from the street when she was about 1 year old. She poops and pees in the house all the time. I have tried everything to housetrain her and bring her outside after she eats. I thought that she might be afraid of the dark or may not see well in the dark, so I bring her outside w/a flashlight and tell her what a good girl she is if she goes potty. Then, during the night, she potties in the house. We also have a 150 lb Rotty/Lab Mix that I have trained to "take sister potty" which he does but then she poops in the house. I have also tried feeding her in the morning so she will go outside to potty during the day. I don't think she would respond well to being crated as I have her trained to "get in your basket" to sleep or when she needs to feel safe. A friend suggested that I start using "pee pads", so last night I did and she peed on the pee pad but pooped in the kitchen. I try so hard to be patient w/her because I believe she was abused and had to run around in fear for her life from everything and everybody! Short of lining the entire floor with pee pads, I am at a loss of what to do. Can anyone suggest anything else I might do? ... View related article.
