RE: Getting the Last of the Tube of Foundation
I do the same thing with anything that comes in a tube. I first cut the tube in half, then cut the bottom portion to make it a little smaller, clean out the top and put it in the bottom, then place the top of the tube on the bottom so it covers it completely. I can then clean out the entire tube and not waste any. When it's all clean, toss it. ... View related article.

RE: Oreo Bon Bons and Butterfinger Cookies
I've made the Oreo Bon Bons (my recipe calls them Truffles) many times, but I crush mine in the food processor & then add the softened cream cheese. When all combined then I scoop them onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, using a 1-oz. scoop so they are all the same size. I have put them in the refrigerator for as long as 2-3 days before I have a chance to dip them in chocolate. For the dipping chocolate I use the candy melts...no mixing, just melt & dip. Then put back in the fridge to firm up. Everyone just loves these truffles. ... View related article.

RE: The Best Place To Buy Vanilla Beans
Seeing this post makes me think about the vanilla I'm making...or trying to. I discovered Penzey's about 2 yrs. ago and am fortunate to have a store abut 4 miles from my house (that's where I buy all my spices now). I bought their Mexican vanilla beans because I wanted to make my own vanilla & give small bottles as Christmas gifts to the women in my family. I didn't give it as Christmas gifts because I was really unsure about it. I started this August 7, 2005 when I made 2 quarts...I put 1 1/2 beans in each jar & then filled the jars with vodka. They have been sitting on a little table in my kitchen since then...with me shaking the jars a couple of times a week. Would this be good to use? Or would I need to add more vanilla beans? I know I have read different posts that this stays good for a long time, but could someone tell me what to do now?

Thanx for any suggestions. ... View related article.

RE: Keeping Track of Socks
To keep my socks together I use the safety pin method. I buy the large safety pins and immediately when I take my socks off I pin them together and put them in the hamper. That way I always have a pair of socks...not just one. Of course, I can't get my husband or daughter to do that and because they won't, they have to sort their own socks. ... View related article.

RE: Whites Aren't White After Washing
I use a product called Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing & my whites come out really white. I get it at the grocery store (Kroger) on the detergent isle, a little ways down the isle from the detergents. You wouldn't believe it, a product that turns the water blue, makes your whites really white. ... View related article.

RE: Chocolate Chip Cookies with Instant Pudding
Hi, Candy!

Here is a chocolate chip cookie recipe from the Betty Crocker Ultimate Cookie Book that I've made before...only I tweaked it a little by adding the pudding mix to it. They turned out real good.

The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie

3/4 C. granulated sugar
3/4 C. packed brown sugar
1 C. margarine or butter, softened
1 egg
2 1/4 C. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 sm. box instant vanilla pudding mix
1 C. coarsely chopped nuts
1 pkg. (12-oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 C.)

Heat oven to 375*. Mix sugars, margarine & egg in large bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda, salt & pudding mix. (Dough will be stiff.) Stir in nuts & chocolate chips.

Drop by rounded tablespoonful about 2" apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. (Centers will be soft.) Cool slightly; remove to wire rack to cool completely.

4 DOZ. COOKIES
