RE: Other Uses for Coffee Filters
I teach at Head Start and we use them for many projects. We make butterflies out of them by decorating them with watered down food coloring or markers and we spray the marker with water. let them dry. Accordian fold them (four) and stack two on each side of a clothespin to look like a butterfly. Also, you can paint or decorate them and glue onto a large sheet of paper and make it look like a flower ... View related article.

RE: Kitty Girl
I think that it is wonderful that you saved the cat and helped her become a part of your family. Cats are stubborn creatures so I can imagine the hard work you put into earning her trust. I wish you the best of luck and I commend you for inspiring other animal-lovers to help homeless domesticated animals. ... View related article.

RE: My Frugal Life - Lessons Learned by a Single Mom
I agree with you. We are a wasteful society. The answering machine idea is priceless. Much better than caller ID. You know who called and what they wanted without even answering the phone. Useful for even the spendthrifts.I applaud your efforts and encourage you to continue! ... View related article.

RE: Organizing Baby Clothes
I do the same thing for all of my children. I have three boys so I take the hand me downs from my six year old and put them up for my two year old. I take his clothes and put them up for my 5 month old. I take his clothes and sell them or barter them for more clothes. This is a great way to recycle clothing. ... View related article.

RE: I Can't Afford School Clothes
I have the same problem. Last year I went to the DFACS office (where you apply for assistance) and they referred me to Salvation Army. From that referral, I was allowed to get three outfits per person in my family. It was a big help for me and my younger son, too. Also check and see if there are any clothes closets in your local churches. A lot of the time you can find nice things there. I don't know where you could get new clothes, though. ... RE: Problems With Verizon's Internet Service
I have AOL and I just wanted to also let everyone know about what they did to me! They automatically signed me up for "call alert". I called and told them to cancel it and they actually accused me of signing up and forgetting about it! Then I went through about 10 minutes of conversation and they finally cancelled it. DO NOT GET AOL!! Please, save your money!!!!!!!! ... View related article.

RE: Crafts Using Washcloths
You can make "booboo bunnies" from them. All you do is fold the cloth until you have a 1-2 inch wide strip. Then fold it in half and wrap a rubber band or sew it together leaving enough room for a plastic easter egg to slip in. Place a piece of ice in the egg, slip it in the hole, and you can make any boo boo better. ... View related article.

RE: Adapting a BBQ Rib Recipe for Chicken
You can actually marinate your chicken in the barbeque sauce. It's really delicious in the oven and I bet it would be heavenly on the grill. I would just marinate the chicken in the BBQ sauce and then cook on the grill as you did with the ribs. ... View related article.

RE: Homemade Baby Food - Tips And Recipes
I am just starting to make my own baby food and I am enjoying it. I joined a yahoogroup and get great advise from other moms. I read that avocados are an excellent "first" food for babies (which I have not seen in a jarred variety) but my son made a face at the texture. I mixed it with bananas and he ate twice as much as he normally eats! I think that there is much more variety in homemade baby food than jarred food and it tastes better, too.As for the post about there being no preservatives in jarred food, jarred baby food has to have some type of preservative in order for it to be shelf stable, homemade food must be frozen in order to keep it fresh. ... RE: Adding Up the Savings from a Frugal Life
I just bought a whole comforter set for my bed at a "junk" store. It was brand new and some pieces were still in the package. I paid $15 for it (comforter, sheets, shams, decorative pillow, bed ruffle, valances) I went on their website and found out that it's worth over $300! WOW! ... View related article.
