RE: Recipe to Bring to Thanksgiving Dinner
Do you have to bring the main dish? or a side? I post a couple of things...
my Veggie Pizza
Ingredients:
2 pkg of refrigerated crescent rolls (lg. roll)
2 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1 cup mayo
1 pkg (one ounce) dry Ranch-style dressing mix
1 cup fresh broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot, chopped (I used my chopper).
cup bell peppers, your choice (I used yellow and red)
cherry tomatoes, cut in half
1 1/2 to 2 cups finely shredded pizza cheese, or cheddar, or whatever cheese you would like!
3 or so pieces of bacon, cooked well, and cooled, and chopped (again, I used my chopper)
really ANY veggie you want or don't want can be used, but this is what I used. - Also, I've never seen a recipe using bacon, I just think it added the perfect taste!

Directions:
1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F

2 Roll out the crescent roll dough onto a 9 x 13 pan, and pinch together edges to form the pizza crust (the little pieces of the dough that don't fit I use to fill in around the edges, etc.

3 Bake crust for 12-13 minutes in the preheated oven. Once finished cooking, remove crust from oven and let cool 15 minutes without removing it from the baking sheet.

4 In a small mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, mayo, and dry ranch dressing. Spread the mixture over the cooled crust. I then sprinkled the broc/cauliflower/carrot mixture, the peppers, the cheese, bacon and place the tomato halves skin side up. I then pressed it down with the bottom of the spatula.

Chill for one hour or more.

**Note: I made a few of these and combined the cream cheese mayo mixture. So, next time I whip up a pizza, I think I'll make half of the mixture to spread on it, but again, up to your tastebuds! ... View related article.

RE: Sam's Club Artichoke, Spinach, and Jalapeno Dip
OK I love that stuff. I go to a few different sams around me, and some carry it, some don't. I've tried googling it too, it is just yummy! One thing I've done when Sam's stopped carrying something I liked was every time I go in there I talk to the manager and let them know I'd like them to carry it again and I fill out a sheet at the front of sams-a comment sheet. I hope someone does have the recipe, it is one of the best dips I've ever had! ... View related article.

RE: Getting Rid of Mice Naturally
I read on this site a while back about putting out ex lax. Search for the tip, it was a great tip! Also, the electronic things you plug in, our rental had mice and we used one down by the breaker box plug in to send signals through the house. We then used ones in each room that kept them from wanting to be in the room, then my husband went around and looked for openings and filled those in. It seemed to work! ... View related article.

RE: Identifying Toxic Mold
I think you need to contact the city/inspection division for rental housing, they need to know about this if it is that bad. It is up to the rental owner to fix the problem. It should be livable, and mold in my opinion is not! The owner would need to fix the damp issue and have the mold taken off. If your son and friends don't rent it, he'll get someone to. ... RE: Squeezo Strainer Manual
I wish I had one of those, we used to use it growing up! Really, for tomatoes at least, we cut out the little area at the top with stem. Quarter/half the tomatoes, run through, then run the meat, skins etc., bowl through once more to squeeze more out. It is wonderful to use! ... View related article.

RE: Canning Spaghetti Sauce
I wanted to can spagetti sauce, but didn't have time to do it all, and didn't want the tomatoes to go bad. I did the first step in getting them ready for canning; boiled them for a minute to get the skins to come off easy, and them put them right away in cold/ice water. I then put the container on the bottom shelf of my fridge for a week till I could get at them. I just made the sauce this weekend.

I would have to say, only use roma tomatoes for canning, the rest are too watery and seedy. Romas are very meaty. I found some great directions online. I added all the spices minus garlic...will add when I open it up to cook it-said it could get bitter tasting, and didn't want that! Also, I didn't have an actual canning pot, but I used a stock pot and put a trivet down at the bottom of the pot (jar cannot be directly on heat) I would have used a flat piece of wood/board if I didn't have the trivet!

Also, you can freeze spag sauce. My friend just blends the tomato up really good with all the spices (she leaves the skins on, just takes the stems off!) and cooks it to get the water content down, cools it and puts in bags/containers and keeps in freezer. in a upright freezer, up to 6 months, in a deep freeze up to a year. That's what I was told, and canned and frozen-either way is super yummy! ... View related article.

RE: Poem for Baby Shower
Don Herrold
Babies are such a nice way to start people.

Anonymous
Ten fingers, ten toes
She's laughter and teardrops
So small and brand new
And amazingly angelic
She's sent to bless you
She's one special Baby
The best of life's treasure
And will grant and bless you
Many hours of great pleasure.

Anonymous
Take a sprinkling of fairy dust,
An angel's single feather,
Also a dash of love and care,
Then mix them both together.
Add a sentiment or two,
A thoughtful wish or line,
A touch of stardust, a sunshine ray...
It's a recipe, for a Baby Girl truly fine.
