| RE: Birthday Theme Ideas |
I've tried a few things the past couple of years. Once I bought plain white pillow cases at the dollar store, some fabric markers, glitter, cute stencils of flowers, butterflies, and of course letters and turned the girls loose to decorate their own pillow cases. They had a ball, got to keep their pillow cases, and my daughter still uses hers 2 years later.
This year she will be 9 and I decided to let the girls make sock puppets and then they can put on their own plays. Again a trip to the dollar store to buy several pair of plain white socks, we have LOTS of buttons for decorating eyes etc., still have the fabric markers, some yarn and a few squares of felt (I get 9" squares at Wal-mart for about $1 each) and lots of imagination. She's really looking forward to it! ... View related article. |

| RE: Cleaning a Grill Cooktop |
The best advice for cleaning oven racks, grill racks, gas range burner grills, etc., is to pour amonia into a garbage bag w/the items you wish to clean in the bag; tie it off and let it sit overnight if possible (in the tub or outside). The next morning just wash w/soap and water. They will wipe clean.
I used this method when cleaning my brother's stove (whole apartment!) so he could get his security deposit back...he had never cleaned the oven. ... View related article. |

| RE: Brown Discoloration on a White Oven |
I scrubbed w/everything imaginable on my stove; then one day I was wiping down my whole kitchen w/Murphy's Oil Soap, wiped over the yellow-brown stained venting for the oven at the back of my stove burners, and to my amazement the entire stain just wiped away!
Hope it works for you, too! ... View related article. |

| RE: "Forgotten Cookies" Recipe |
Don't know if this is what you mean, but here's a recipe for "Resurrection Cookies" an Easter favorite:
Resurrection Cookies!
Read the whole recipe before beginning... try to do together Saturday night before Easter Sunday.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
Ingredients: You need: 1 cup whole pecans Mixing bowl cookie sheet 3 egg whites Wooden spoon tape 1 cup sugar Bible wax paper 1 tsp. vinegar Zipper baggy 1 pinch of salt
Place pecans in the baggy and let the children beat them with the wooden spoon to break into small pieces. Explain that after Jesus was arrested, He was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read - John 19:1-3 to them.
Let child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. into mixing bowl. Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was given vinegar to drink. Read - John 19:28-30
Add egg whites to the vinegar. Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life for us life. Read - John 10:10-11
Sprinkle a little salt into each child's hand let them taste it then brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that represents the salty tears shed by Jesus followers, and the bitterness of our own sin...Read - Luke 23:27
So far the ingredients are not very appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar. Explain that the sweetest part of this story is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to Him. Read - Psalm 34:8 and John 3:16
Beat with mixer on high speed for 11-15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. Explain that the color white represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by Jesus. Read - Isaiah 1:18 and John 3:1-3
Fold in broken nuts. Drop by tsp. onto waxed paper-covered cookie sheet. Explain that each mound represents the rocky tomb where Jesus body was laid. Read - Matt. 27:65-66
Put cookies sheet in the oven. Close door and turn oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the door. Explain that Jesus tomb was sealed. Read - Matt. 27:65-66
Go to bed!
Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight. Jesus followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read - John 16:20 and 22
On Resurrection Morning open the oven and give everyone a cookie! Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the first Resurrection Day Jesus followers were amazed to find the tomb open and empty. Read - Matt. 28:1-9

| RE: Purchasing a Small Dog |
Most counties have shelters overflowing with good pets that need a home for a variety of reasons. Just because someone else no longer wanted the animal does NOT mean the animal is "bad"; more likely just a family that no longer has time or energy to care for the pet. Fees will vary, but the pet comes to you neutered, shots updated, healthy and sometimes even microchipped. Well worth the $100 we paid for our 6 year old, WELL TRAINED dog. We couldn't be happier.
Good luck! ... View related article. |

Study Cesaer Milan's techniques! He does NOT recommend physical punishment other than strong body language...to me physical punishment includes rolled newspapers and harsh hitting...I don't believe the guest poster has actually observed Cesaer's success. The best advice Cesaer has is to EXERCISE your pets; the more energy they have, the more they need to take a good tiring walk to release their pent-up energies. A well exercised dog has less energy and frustration to use on other dogs. PLEASE check out Cesaer Milan's website, books, DVD, or TV show (The Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic stations I think). ... View related article. |

Must be the "chow" in her! My chow/Burmese Mountain mix rescue dog would ONLY play with his Old Navy toy shaped like a kitty! LOL He has since learned to enjoy his rope and a good chew bone, but looks for "Kitty" at bed time!
Maggie is a beauty!

| RE: Organizing My Bedroom |
Those are all great and workable ideas. You might also try this for a neat and tidy "open space" room. Purchase one of those inexpensive clear vinyl shoe holders that can hang on the back of your bedroom door; there are 20 or so clear "pockets" that really don't hold up well to storing shoes, but are superb at sorting socks/nylons, hair pieces and barrets (don't put a hot curling iron in!) brushes, make up, even the tape measure/sewing kits, nail care items...and the best part is when your door is open, your dresser/furniture tops can be less cluttered and all your items are tucked safely behind the door!
