RE: Making A Paper Mache Owl
Coat an inflated balloon with strips of newspaper dipped in plaster of paris. Do a few layers and let dry overnight. Repeat until you have the desired strength. Try to keep everything smooth. Then pop the balloon and pull out near the tie. Sculpt ears and beak out of the paper and plaster too. You can sand down any rough spots and paint with water based tempera and top with a coat of lacquer if desired. Good Luck! ... View related article.

RE: Easy Inexpensive Way To Clean Vintage Lamp Shade
You can gently vacuum the shade with a small attachment. This will get all the dust out. Or you can take the shade outdoors and dust with a soft, clean paint brush. The last suggestion I heard years ago. Take a large trash bag (or bag size suitable for your shade) add about a cup of salt, and shake vigorously. This will remove dust and dirt without handling. I have carefully washed shades in the tub with soap and water but if the shade is antique I would not recommend. ... View related article.

That was the year Elvis was in Las Vegas. You could get party goods with a gambling theme--dice, cards, etc. You could have table games like 21 and poker for prizes.
