I've traveled the world working on stage between 25 years as a white collar professional since the age of 14. I love public speaking, volunteer as part of a pet therapy team, and am passionate about health education.
A few of my goals involve writing, speaking, more college, another degree, my own business, owning my own home, and living where the sun always shines.
The pic is of my wedding cake I made in '06. My grandfather was the chief pastry chef at the Canadian Pacific Railroad Hotel in Regina, Saskatchewan, then in Vancouver, B.C. My father learned how to make beautiful cakes , who then taught me.

I am a dental hygienist. Water piks are good for removing debris between and around teeth if food traps there. However, they do not wash/rinse away plaque. Plaque is a fancy name for a colony of cells, be they bacteria (in the case of the mouth), or a scab (blood cells), or hardening of the arteries (fat cells). The only product proven to remove plaque with the "water pik" methodology is a devise called a "HYDROFLOSS". They have their own website, and although a bit expensive, they do work. I had a patient who had cerebral palsy, and lower front teeth tilted inward at a severe slant. It was impossible for him to manuver a tooth brush into this area. I couldn't either. Tartar buildup was heavy. I cleaned his teeth, recommended the Hydrofloss, and viola! They tartar did not build up again. It was like magic.
The reason it works is because they use a principle called "Magnetohydrodymanics" which reverses the polarity of water. This then breaks the polar bond of the bacteria to the tooth because the plaque is attracted to the water.
The hydrogen peroxide is a good idea. Listerine isn't. Teeth cleaning definately a good idea. So are tongue scrapers (get one with a thin edge--not blunt), abstaining from coffee, eating breakfast, and watching your onion/garlic intake. Oral irrigators are ok, but the best on the market is called Hydrofloss as it changes the polarity of water so the plaque doesn't stick to your teeth. Brushing 3 times a day with a Sonicare is also going to help. Manual brushing won't involve as many brush strokes as an electric brush--but not just any and especially not the round headed spinning brushes. I see worst results from them. Also, do not "Brush" with a sonicare, Rest it on 2 teeth at a time, pointint it into the gums, for a full 5 seconds.
Spend 2 min's on the bottom teeth, and 2 mins on the top. Do not neglect to brush the inside of your cheeks and all the hard tissue (gums) beyond the teeth. Plaque sticks to everything. It doesn't discriminate. :-D I have used a dye to show patients where it resides and they are shocked to see how much is in their mouth...not just on their teeth. One or two swipes with a manual brush will do. Also do the inside of the floor of your mouth on the gums where your tongue rests, the underside of your tongue, and the top of your tongue after using the tongue scraper.
One of the best detox home remedies is Activated Charcoal. You do not want to place this directly on and open wound. 1. Make a paste from olive oil and the charcoal, 2. Place it on a single layer of a paper towel cut to size of a large bandage pad, 3. Cover the boil/wound with it--charcoal side up, and 4. Hold in place with a large bandage it will draw out the poisons nicely and quickly promote healing. 5. Change daily ... View related article.
This occurs when bacteria get in the hair follicle. Dull razors are notorious for this. 1. use a new razor 2. Keep the razor clean by taking care of where you store it. Try dipping it in bleach/water before and after use. Do not lay it in the shower where contaminated water splashes on it continually. ... View related article.
