Profile For Tanya39 - I Love Thrifty and Frugality!

I am single woman. Every day I checked your Thrifty Fun Newsletter for ideas that are fresh and usable for myself. People think of me as weird in a city where almost everyone outside of college kids are spendthrifts the college kids thrifty, tightwad and frugal. My three favorite words in the English language.

I am single by choice. I garden with thriftiness. I have been thrifty and frugal all my 30 some years. My grandparents taught me couponing and home cooking and canning and knitting, crocheting, and sewing which I use on a daily basis since I was a child. i use the library for books, music, and school projects too. Copying, and I use the Internet too. Laundry is done at a car wash where drying is free.

My motto is thrift and frugality. I live by this motto too.  Vacation is taken at relatives that I love to visit and they love me to visit. Well they actually ask me to come. I don't plan on it. It works out perfectly. I write and self publish booklets on thrift. I also work as a housekeeper parttime.  It's not getting things for free that's a bonus. It's living within your means that is thrift. I do live thriftily and I also live tightwaddish, and frugally. That is living below your means. Two separate words and meanings that people mix up all the time. I understand the two and that is why I am finally signing up for your newsletter. I am also a member of the Tightwad.com Newsletter community. I hope your site can help me further live my life thriftily, tightwaddish, and frugally.

RE: My Frugal Life - Thrifty Disabled Senior
In our city elderly disabled have a van that uses their Vet and Disabled Card for free rides anywhere in the city, and those vehicles have to be handicapped accessible. So if you're surprised by what the public bus system does, don't be. It is required by federal law. ... View related article.

RE: Frugal Wedding Gift Ideas
I have on thing that works like a charm every time. Give money, since it is your very first wedding ever they will think it is your best ideal gift ever, as they don't have anything to base it on. Usually $20 dollars if the couple is simple and funky, but for the more upscale funky couple $50 dollars is the key. Put it in the card that cost $4.95 plus tax. A fancy card with money always does the trick. ... View related article.

RE: Don't Say It's For Your Wedding And Save Money
Lying is never the answer just be honest and you would be surprised at some businesses generosity. I hope I never hear of this sort of dishonesty again. You put frugal peps to shame. I do wish you well and long healthy life you will need it. As the old saying goes "what goes around, comes around, and back three fold." If you get the saying you will think twice about cheating business again, if you can't afford it do it yourself, or you have a family member who is good with hair do it. That is all I have to say. ... View related article.

RE: Tips From a $300 Wedding
Congrats on your wedding and being frugal with it too. I am sorry to hear of your situation that required that low of a figure, but be assured it isn't the lowest mine came at the worst time in my financial life, and cost only $150.00 for us to pay, as my parents paid for the officiant, the site, and my fiance' borrowed the money for our rings. Everyone chipped in to make our day special, as I am sure your friends and family did too. Congrats again, and I hope you have a long healthy life together :). ... View related article.

RE: Strawberry Soda Pop Cake

RE: Blind Kitten Has Stopped Using the Litter Box
I know you love this cat, but face facts, unless you are willing to give up your floors, and you probably will have too. You will either let him be an outdoor barn cat, or put him down humanely. He takes a lot of care and he is young, and unaccostumed to everything without sight. You will have to have patience. You may also try kitty pads right in front of the litter box. ... RE: Do Disabilty Checks Need To Be Paid Back After Retirement?
Linda
You only have to pay back if you were overpaid by the government. I personally get SSI and I have been sent a letter that said I was overpaid last year by 200 dollars because I sent them a late statement of income earned. I work very part time. It is unfair, but there is nothing we can do about it. I also know that if you plan on marrying marry upper middle class, because poor will only get your money cut to where you and spouse can not live on together without more welfare and living in public housing buildings. I do know that if you fall in love with someone in your income bracket which is poor. You can live apart married and keep your income intack. You can see each other every day and choose nights and such. They do this so it is harder for you to get pregnant and be on assistance. I say this is none of their business and you two can do whatever you like married. This is how our government works. So sorry, but we have to live with it.

RE: Sugar Free Peanut Butter Fudge
OK one thing you need to know you dont need a recipe just leave out the sugar and make it with splenda, or no sugar at all. Follow the recipe you have and leave out the sugar. Sugar is what causes diabetic shock, which brings me to my second point. My office that I just got hired at this week. Invited me to the office Christmas party with all the stuff included, but when I got there they refused to give me punch and I found out the pizza was for the staff appreciation of the year party after our party. I am a client in a disabled working environment. 80 % of the clients are extremely disabled and mentally challenged and it is more of a day care for their cheap family to dump them at for each day. The cookies were made with splenda and they didn't turn out well at all and tasted terrible, not that anyone offered me any and I waited an hour before the plate offered to everyone else was put down on a table to take one. I then went home. I felt they should have given the party for just the disabled then at least we could have had sugar punch for all and sugar cookies. I mean talk about my bosses being so petty to the non mentally retarded, as to not even think of my feelings or their feelings. I will never use splenda in any cookie I make ever. I wouldn't suggest it to you either. If you have to make the fudge thou make it without the sugar unless you like splenda. ... View related article.

RE: Eating for a Month on $150
You must have a child, because I know of no state local social services worker that would give a single woman or man that much in food stamps/benefits unless they had diabetes. You can start with going to the cheap non name brand food. If you have a family choose the family size non-namebrand in other words store name brand. Get veggies from Farmers Market. The farmers do take food stamps, but they don't take the card unless they have the machine for it. I would also say stay away from the junk food as that will eat up your food stamp fast, quick, and in a hurry. I talk from personal experience. My daughter is grown now, and I can't get food benefits for her on mine, but she gets them for herself. I now get anywhere from 5 to 30 dollars a month depending on my income. Well good luck. I would also check out the library for recipes on bulk cooking, so you can freeze and eat it later what is left, or extra if you are alone. This works for single parents too, even a couple. ... RE: Planning Weddings on a Budget
All I can say is home wedding, because churches charge per person on off services days, and some churches don't have wedding ceremonies during services as the bride and groom may not want a certain person their in attendance that they extremely dislike. Churches can't discriminate for attendees and parishoners unless they worship the devil that the only exception, but anyhow off subject sorry, home weddings are good for you for two reasons one it's personal, and two the priest or minister only charges for the ceremony. Your children can also be themselves. Well I hope your wedding goes off without a hitch. ... View related article.
