RE: When Should We Have Our Parent's Anniversary Party?
I would suggest having their anniversary either December 9th, 10th, or 30th. It loses some significance if you wait half a year to have it. Perhaps all your kids could make it to the Dec. 30th date as college would be on break during that time.

For my parents 50th, we had a family dinner, as my Dad is quite disabled, but they both still wanted to do something. Their living brothers, sisters, and nephews and nieces were also invited.

I put a very nice article (and wedding and current photos) in the newspaper about them and asked people to send cards to my address which I presented to them in a nice keepsake box. My Dad's old army buddy even came to see him shortly before the day!

I made the cake (tiered), made the invites, made the pacecards, etc. They were very pleased.

Perhaps, if you want to invite the public, you could have snacks and cake for a couple of hours before or after the family meal. ... View related article.

RE: Red Splotches on My Legs From a Rash
I wonder if it's eczema.

The anti-itch remedy sounds good for the next breakout.

I don't know what to say to help remove the redness and bumps. ... View related article.

RE: Pancreatic Cancer Advice
There is a man named Bill Vancil who has a book, Don't Fear the Big Dogs. He has conquered his cancer, which I believe was prostate cancer with an experimental treatment which he swears by. I don't know if this treatment helps with pancreatic cancer or not, but you could probably Google this guy and find out more. I know he works with Magic 98 radio station in Madison, Wi. God bless. I hope you find the help you need. My Grandpa died of pancreatic cancer 31 years ago. ... View related article.

RE: Inexpensive Vacation Ideas
As a campground owner, I have to tell you many campgrounds now have electricity. Many tenters even rent the electric sites, so it can be done. There are many wonderful private campgrounds around--you don't have to crowd in to a state park.

I like the idea of vacationing in your own city. Then you don't have a lodging expense. ... View related article.

RE: Attracting Fireflies To Your Garden
Sorry, I don't know how to attract them, but I read this little ditty in Women's World. Male fireflies are the ones flying around. Female fireflies sit on the tall grasses and signal from there. ... View related article.

RE: Sell Refreshments At Your Garage Sale
here's a great idea which I saw at a church garage sale: sell "Happy Meal Lunches". Kids get a hot dog (or bologna sandwich) , a juice box, a choice of a bag of chips, and a choice from a box of small toys for their happy meal.
Adults could get something kind of similar with perhaps a box of 25 cent or less value items to choose from for their happy meal or a cookie. ... View related article.

RE: Buying a Manufactured Home
Hi Mike,
I have lived in two mobile homes and now own a manufactured home which we have had for 8 years. If you are looking at used homes, ask to see all maintenance records such as when was the roof last sealed, new heater put in, etc. Not only will you know those facts but you will know about the seller, if they have taken good care of the place, etc.
Look at ceilings (esp. in closets) for signs of water damage and also check all windowsills for the same. Check floors for soft spots. Ask about if they have done any special care to prep the home for different seasons.
I have liked every home I've been in, but two of them we remodeled a bit to suit us. I must say that remodeling can be difficult because mobile and manufactured homes are made a little differently than stick-built homes--for example, doors tend to be smaller and are hard to replace and the pipes are different sometimes, too. ...
