RE: Problems With Automatic Computer Updating
Everyone, thanks for the advice. I am wondering though...my husband set up the Norton on my computer and paid in advance for like a year. Do they do refunds or will that be a total loss if I take Norton completely off? Also, I found McAfee also on my computer in addition to Norton AV and thought it was because both were on there. But that didn't help my problem when I disabled them. ... View related article.

RE: Fixing a Glider Rocker That Squeaks
Take WD-40 or even kitchen non-stick spray and spray the wood where it is rubbing and see if it helps. Another option is to take a candle or beezwax and either melt it on there or rub it on there. This works great for kitchen or bathroom drawers that stick and don't slide well too. ... View related article.

RE: 12 Days of Christmas Packaging Ideas
I have been trying for years to collect ornaments or package toppers to use for that same thing. I always thought it would be neat to give my kids or a friend a gift each day (like the Advent calendar) and start with 12 and go down and have the corresponding item from the 12 Days of Christmas song as the package topper and the would also have an ornament for their tree, etc. But I never can find much of anything but a fake partridge in the floral dept., the five gold rings in the wedding dept, and I found a package topper of drums to go for the drummers drumming. I have been hanging on to them each year hoping to find items matching the rest of the things in the song. ... View related article.

RE: Giving Themed Gift Baskets
Get a top hat (many of your party stores sell cheap ones) and put the Willy Wonka movie(s) (new and/or old) in there with microwave popcorn. There is also a candy put out by a company with the name Willy Wonka. (Runts, Gobstoppers, Nerds, Bottle Caps, and even a Willy Wonka chocolate bar) The idea that rainy21 suggested would be nice with movie tickets or something inside the candy wrapper. ... RE: Christmas: Use Different Wrapping Paper for Each Person
We always used to figure out our gifts by shaking and rattling the boxes. So my mom got smart and each year she came up with her own method.

1. One year she put a single dot, two dots, and three dots on the bottom of the packages. We never even noticed. The one with one dot was my sister, the firstborn, two dots, second born, three dots, third born.

2. One year she assigned numbers 1, 2, 3 and we assumed the 1 was the oldest, 2 the middle, etc. but it wasn't. She got us good.

3. The best was when she put each of our names on another ones presents. All of my gifts had one of my siblings names on them, and so on.

For my kids one year I put other people's names on them. They kept asking who they were and we said they were needy children that we were giving gifts to. Which we did every year so they did not suspect a thing. ... View related article.

RE: Uses for Popcorn Tins
I had leftover tins last year from the year before and throughout the year as I found things on sale, I filled the tins for my nieces and their live-in boyfriends and gave them to them. I had a jar candle, $5 movies, shopping list pads, notecards, etc. The tin was my decoative wrapping. All I had to do was put a bow and a name tag on top. ... View related article.
