| RE: Great Pots and Pan Organizer |
|
I also used an old ladder for a pot rack. Mine was very weathered looking and even had spots on paint on it. I used hooks in ceiling along with chain to hold it up at the height I wanted. Under each rung was a metal rod (I guess for extra support for each rung) so I just spaced 3 large "S" hooks to hang pots and other kitchen accessories. I then used some silk ivey along the outside of ladder. Then my husband had some kind of mesh-type screening ( I think this is used for either plastering walls or sheetrock), only a scrap, but fit perfectly over the top of the ladder--Great for sitting baskets on, especially the ones I use around the kitchen, for rolls, etc. I even hang my strainers, which have handles on them, on the ladder. I have had so many compliments on this. At first my husband was a little bit warry about my idea (my husband is a Pastor and we are presently living in our church parsonage) but I thinnk he was accually impressed in the end with this shappy chic look. It really helps with the storage for we do not have much cabinet space to start with and it seems so nice just to be able to reach up and get a pot without having to unstack pots out of a cabinet. I also have to cut a piece off the bottom of the ladder, for it was too long. I soon found a place for it in my den. I used it for my inspirational romance paperbacks, they fit perfectly on the rungs (of which there are two) and I attached it to the wall with "L" brackets and put a swag over it. Looks great! I love this way of recycling things. Crystal from Bennettsville, SC ... View related article. |

| RE: Transfer Pens |
|
I don't know if you can use this --but walmart use to carry a transfer pencil (marks reddish) and you would go over your pattern (in this case your print from the computer-and make sure if your design has writing on it, to use mirror image) then turn your printed design, etc. over and iron on the back side and it would be transfered. This is like for a project that you may only need outline and wish to paint, etc. Hope this helps- Crystal from Bennettsville, SC ... View related article. |

| RE: Inca Theme Lampshade |
I suggest going to local craft store or even Walmart and check out their stencils to see if you can find something to go with your theme. If not , and you have a design in mind--trace it on to posterboard and then cover it in clear contact paper on both sides, cut out your design with xacto knife and you've just cut out your own stencil. If it is a lampshade with smooth finish , you should have no problems. You might also find some trim that you could glue around bottom of lampshade. I have some lampshades that are stenciled and I get alot of compliments on them.
Happy crafting--Crystal from Bennettsville, SC ... View related article. |

| RE: Ferns Damaged By Cold Weather |
|
I winter over alot of plants on my covered back porch. What I do (and it has worked successfully for me for years now) is put all my plants on my patio table (you may have shelves or something else) and put a string of the white (clear) mini christmas lights all along tops of plants. Then I cover them in clear plastic. If needed I weight down corners of plastic. If during the day it is warm enough, I throw back the clear plastic & turn off (unplug) lights. Depending on how many plants you have, adjust the quantity of the lights. This just keeps them from getting too cold, and by cutting them off during day (if warm enough) and taking plastic off keeps them from getting too hot. Of course, water plants as needed. Hope this is of help, I have wintered over ferns like this before. You may only need the white lights, which are beautiful anyway at night on plants & trees like Palm. It should keep the chill off. | RE: Decorating My Husband's Garage |
Have you ever tried stenciling? You can find neat stencils on internet, craft stores and even at Walmart. You might can find something with vintage cars (fords) or you might even try some of the cute sayings about Fords and just stencil them along the top of the walls, you would only need an alphabet stencil for this along with a little paint and some tape. Very easy , just a suggestion. Crystal From Bennettsville, SC ... View related article. |

| RE: Craft Ideas for Old Wooden Spools |
If they are small sewing spools , wrap a a torn strip of homespun around and tie a bow. Find a candle to fit in the center. Make a little card to attach to it saying something like--"Let your light so shine before men--Matt.5:16, or John 8:12 - I am the light of the world..." or use any verse that appeals to you. May God bless you in you mission.

| RE: Cheap Scented Candles |

Just be careful when buying cheap candles. I have a cousin who bought one in a glass jar, it was "made in china" and when it got hot it exploded and caught her drapes on fire. Please be wary of certain "cheap" candles - it can cost more in the long run. ... View related article. |
