RE: Preventing and Eliminating Kidney Stones
Hi--My urologist told me to empty my bladder whenever I had a chance. He says stones form the quickest in concentrated urine. Since I started doing that, including setting the alarm to ring once in the middle of the night so I can visit the bathroom, I haven't had a stone. (4 years and counting.) ... View related article.

RE: Ideas To Revitalize Garden Club
You could initiate a public service project and invite students from the local vo-tech program at the high school -- clean up and decorate an old cemetary, put a garden around the town sign, start a seedling campaign to have members trade/share/sell clippings from their favorite plants. Open a contest to local residents-- most unusual planter, ugliest plant, etc. and provide entrants with invitations to your club.

If there is a local fair in your area (remember the days when every town had one??), sign up for a display tent. Ask residents who aren't members but have fantastic gardens to allow your group to tour. Have "best (fill in the season) garden" contests and provide the winnner with a nice plaque or stake to put in their yard, and have your club be the judges.

Ask local homes for senior citizens if you could do a short presentation. Many retired persons have/had an interest in gardening and may either join or provide interesting stories, tips, etc.

RE: Unusual Objects in the Garden
My creative neighbor has an old iron bed frame set in her garden for a "flower bed". Also a china toilet she uses as a planter, a cast iron bathtub that looks gorgeous with wave petunias spilling from it. I've seen dozens of people stop by the roadside to take a picture of it. Her morning glories climb up an old stepladder. She also has an assortment of old shoes, a cowboy boot, and grapevine wreaths used as planters.

RE: Cleaning Smoke of a Porcelain Figurine
If nothing else works, try toothpaste made specifically for smokers and very gently brush it on and rinse. It may remove the yellow smoke stain. ... View related article.

RE: Uses for Air Pillows from Mailings
If they are clear, you can use them as mini greenhouse covers when you set your seedlings outside. Also, they work as anchors in a cooler if you have a dish that needs steadied. ... View related article.
