RE: Burnt Stainless Steel Pan
Boil vinegar in it. you only need enough vinegar to cover where the pot it blackened. Smelly, but it lifts the goo right off.
If you have a gas grill with an extra burner, you can do it outside. ... View related article.

RE: Paint Colors for Bathroom with Harvest Yellow Fixtures
I had that bathroom, too, only mine had a vanity top that looked like snowflakes or something; all with the same harvest gold on a white background. Anyway, I did the navy blue/gold, but with the stars & moons. At least it looked intentional. Oh, and now that we've got our own house-no harvest gold in sight. ... View related article.

RE: Planning a Small Sweet 16 Birthday
I read a cute idea in Family Fun magazine- a rock star glam party. Have the guests bring accessories-boas, hats, gloves, jewelry, etc. Ask guests for music suggestions to "model" to hang a backdrop (old sheet decorated with glitter, etc)
do a model-style photo shoot, give each guest a CD with their pictures and music on it. Do snacks like picky-foods
good luck! http://familyfun.go.com/parties/bir ... -time/ff0309-a-rockin-good-time.html

RE: My Family Doesn't Clean
My kids are younger- 5 and 2 1/2, so I use a simpler approach. I started a "reward board". I bought stickers from the dollar store, took a sheet of paper and divided it into 2 columns, one for my son and one for my daughter. When I "caught" them doing something like putting things away, I put a sticker on the paper.

I told them that when both sides were full, we would do something as a family, like the zoo, the fair, the circus (we get free tix from various sources for most of those). It made them feel good, but also reinforced the positive behavior. It made them work together, too, as we couldn't go unless both sides were full.

We also put things into "banishment"...if we tell one of our kids to pick something up, we give them 2 chances more (Sorta like a 3 strikes rule). If it's not picked up, we put it in "banishment". When they get it back is our discretion.

I can't help with the husband part...mine does so much around here. I cook, do laundry, dust, take care of the "delicate" tasks like the the china cabinet, but he vacuums, does dishes, does the yard work and shovels. Bathrooms, we take turns. Good luck! ... View related article.

RE: Recipes For Someone On Dialysis
I found this one for you...my Dad was on Dialysis for years. My Mom learned to be very creative...she also did pork chops with pineapple and rice.
Allrecipes.com has a search by ingredients where you can choose things you DON'T want in the recipe...that's a nice feature.
Also, I don't know how often your f-i-l goes..my dad went 4 days a week. The nutritionist at the center told my mother she could relax his diet on dialysis days...everything was going to be flushed out anyway. I'm not recommending that, but you may want to ask someone if that also pertains to your fil's case.
It is a very difficult diet to follow...potassium, phosphorous, salt, liquid intake...it can be maddening. Also try the http://www.culinarykidneycooks.com/recipe_of_the_week.htm
I typed in "dialysis recipe" into google and got quite a few listings.
Good luck, I know it's not easy.
Oh, also try chatting with the caregivers at the dialysis center. They had lots of ideas, too.
God be with you!

RE: Repairing Dull Spot Left by Magic Eraser on Laminate Counter Top
Maybe you can track down the manufacturer's telephone number, and perhaps they may have suggestions.
I know some laminates cannot be repaired; I'm not sure if it's true for all types. ... View related article.

RE: Inexpensive Ideas For Wrapping Large Present
I have gotten towels on clearance and used those as wrapping-sometimes they cost more than paper, but at least they have a purpose.
I have bought throws and used those to wrap, also shower curtains. Anything that will match the decor, and usually costs the same (or sometimes less) than wrapping paper. ... View related article.

RE: Looking For Information About "Alstroermia" Plant
Hi there.
Those are some of my favorite flowers! They are also known as Peruvian lilies.
They come in many different colors, from white to deep maroon, to yellow, to pink, and lots of colors.
I found some good information on the NC State University website here:
http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/ ... heets/bulbs-summer/alstroemeria.html
They are hardy in your zone, they should grow quite nicely.
Stop into a nursery. The people that work there will have an abundance of information, and it will be relevant to your geographic area.
Also, there's a site called Daves Garden that has great gardening information as well. When we moved into our house, I didn't know my daffodils from my hostas. Now, I do! There are lots of pictures on Daves, too.
Have fun gardening! ... View related article.

RE: Decor With A Vintage Camera Theme
What a cool and unique idea!
Maybe you can find a lightbox, or make one-I bet they have ideas on this site. I know copy places can make acetate photos (like x-rays, so you see them with the light shining through them).
Look through books at the library-they will definitely have pictures of old studios from which you can harvest ideas.
Once you get ideas, don't forget about freecycle and craig's list. They both allow you to post "wanted" items.
The dollar stores sell disposable cameras, you can open them and use the film (or buy/make something that looks like rolls of film) for tie backs, to hold up a balloon shade, around planter bases, etc. Perhaps not real film if you have kids or pets-I'm not sure about the chemicals.
I bet you can find copies of old magazines-they had great photography. Also, scour flea markets, etc for old Kodak, polaroid, Brownie camera advertisements. I have a few old labels and things in frames scattered around.
Also, an old tripod for a camera, maybe it could hold a plant?
I hope these few ideas will spark some of your own!
Happy decorating! Sounds like a wonderfully fun project! ... View related article.
