I live in a 100+ year old house in Moline IL, with my 7 year old, a pitbull and two cats (Axel, Abraham and Peekaboo).

I am planning to help open a vintage thrift boutique with a friend in 2008!

I collect Pyrex and linens.

RE: Keeping Garbage Disposals Fresh
True! You can also use lemon and lime peels. I used to clean my disposal in my old apt. with lemon peels and ice cubes. ... View related article.

RE: Homemade Presents For Dog Lover
What about a recipe for making dog biscuits? I'm sure you could find them online...just put the dry ingred. in a mason jar w/a ribbon, and put the directions on a cute tag...I've seen people do it for human cookies! ... View related article.

RE: Making Salsa Without Peppers
Just take any salsa recipe and nix the peppers =].

The salsa I make is really chunky, my friends love it. I used a big can of diced tomatos (drained) and add canned corn, canned black beans, canned chickpeas(garbanzo beans), diced onion and diced cilantro. Its really, really good. You can do fresh as well. I boiled fresh corn one time and shaved the corn off the cob and added it to my salsa one time instead of using canned. ... View related article.

RE: Saving Money on DVDs (and Videos)
I buy pre-viewed DVD's at my grocery store for $4.99. Theyre not the fancy packaged ones, but they do just fine. I don't usually buy used ones because you never know if they are scratched or not. ... View related article.

RE: My Frugal Life: A Frugal Christmas
I loved this story! It reminded me of my daughters first Christmas (I was 20 at the time.) My uncle had cut down a small evergreen bush in my grandma's front yard. It looked just like the Charlie Brown Tree! I wanted a real tree so bad because my family did that every year, so I used it as my tree that year! It tipped to one side a little bit, but it worked! And I used decor from the Dollar Store, but you could never tell. It must be a Midwestern thing, I'm not too far from Waterloo (Quad Cities)! ... View related article.

RE: Organize Your Refrigerator
I take all my kids juice boxes/yogurts/puddings/etc. and put them in the crispers so that saves space.

I use cheap plastic baskets from the $1 store for all the condiments. I never use my shelves on the door because I heard food will spoil from the door being opened all the time.

And for the front of the fridge - you can find cute colored frames @ Walgreens or any other drugstore. It does make the front of yr fridge look cuter. ... View related article.

RE: Baby Shower for Mother with Nightmare Before Christmas Themed Nursery
It seems like she will be using a lot of black and white for a babys room, which is not the norm, but babies see black and white really well, so she does have a good idea!

I am in my late 20s, so I guess I am embracing this a little better, haha!

Try and find some cute organizer boxes in black and white for her to put stuff in (containerstore.com might help), and I know hottopic.com sells baby items, and they DO have Nightmare Before Christmas stuff.

Try Ebay, maybe they have misc party stuff from this movie that wasn't used. You could try and find some Christmas tree balls in black/white/silver to use as decoration/place holders. ... View related article.
