RE: Are Leather Couches Kid-Friendly?
Dear Lisa,
Yes some leather furniture is kid friendly up to a degree. Don't leave them alone in a room with crayons, ink or paint. If they are diaper training, don't sit them on the furniture. Don't allow them to drink or eat while sitting on the leather piece. If they are sick with a stomach bug, keep them in bed. I can go on with all types of issues with leather, because I have to clean up most of the problems left behind from children.
I have a client who was talked into buying Nubuck Leather from a sales person, and what a mistake that was. She has a small football team of boys and they have caused more problems than they can handle. After giving her a price to restore the furniture she thought to herself what did I get myself into and how can she correct the issue of messy kids. So unless your children are well behaived, start off with leather you can afford not to lose.
Sincerely Mark

RE: Dye From Clothing on Leather Couch
Hello Rocky,

In regards to your leather stained sofa seeing that it is new, did you purchase a warranty on stains? If so, my advise would be to contact your warranty service and have this taken care of professionally and leave the problem in their hands. If you had not purchased a warranty then the problem lies on you.
My suggestion to you is you need to know what type of leather you own. Is it Aniline, Protected (pigmented)or Nubuck? Once your leather is identified then you can proceed with the correct steps in removing the transfer of silkscreen ink from your shirt.
If your leather is (Aniline):
Step 1. Strong Cleaner
Step 2. Leather Protection Cream
Dry between steps with hair dryer
If problem persists use: (Soft Remover/Cleaner)
Always finish job with Protection Cream

If your leather is (Protected/Pigmented):
Use the same steps as Aniline

If your leather is (Nubuck):
Step 1. Use Nubuck Cloth
Step 2. Apply Leather Degreaser
Step 3. Foam Cleaner
Step 4. Use Nubuck Cloth
Step 5. Apply Eco Protector
Dry in between steps with hair dryer

RE: Musty Smell on Leather Chairs
To both Robert & Nadya,
If your furniture smells like mildew or shows signs of mold growth, means that your furniture was either kept in a damp place one time or the other. Mold is like a cancer growth and can damage the leather if left to grow and take over the hide as a food source. You both have to clean your leather very thoroughly. First wear protective gloves and goggles before applying removal. Do this outdoors if permitted, in order not to spread the mold spores inside. Pre-vac all areas very good before you wipe the surface down. Clean leather with Leather Master Strong Cleaner and Leather Master Mold Killer, then apply Leather Master Protection Cream if either leather is Aniline or Pigmented leather. If your leather is Nubuck or suede, apply Leather Master Eco Protector.

RE: Deodorizing a Leather Chair
Dear Billie from Texas,

First thing I would do if your trying to complete this on your own is to identify what type of leather you own. Once you are able to identify the leather then proceed to clean overall, best cleaner is Leather Master Stong Cleaner, also there is Leather Master Odor Remover or a neutralizer of some sort will work as well. Please follow directions on all products before use on your leather. If you need further help, we can be contacted in CT at 203 734-5343 Supreme Care Leather Services or www.supremecareleatherservice.com or supremecare@sbcglobal.net

RE: Cleaning a Leather Chair
Dear Louise,
The problem here is that the acids and oils from your husband hair penetrated thru the hide. Your leather is probally old and never been cleaned or protected properly and this is where the problem lies.
The leather may be and unprotected Anilne hide that is very absorbant and may be faded or sun damaged and very dry. My advise is to locate a certified Leather Master Tech in your area. This is a restoration process and requires a skilled craftsman to condition the leather back without this blemish.
The hair oils have to be degreased out and this strips some of the natural finish and color out. This can be done in your home and can be done by yourself or as specified by hiring a pro.

I have posted another picture here for another person who was seeking advise. You'll see it here on thrfty's page with the end results of the Nubuck sofa, here is what it looked like before we restored it back to new. This came out of Michigan and was about 16 years old with no maintenance, Look at all the oils even on the seat cushions. We had to strip them out and refinish the Nubuck.
Sincerely,
Mark Sabre

RE: Cleaning a Leather Chair
Hello Holly,
As far as cleaning your ivory leather chair, please check to see if there is a leather ID sticker under the seat cushion if removable. If not, more than likely the leather is either Protected, Semi Aniline, or Aniline. You can clean each one the same way with our Leather Master Cleaning Kit and get the best results posssible for your leather chair. It is a two part process, one by using a soft cleaner and the other adding leather protection by into the hide. You can contact us at 203 734-5343 or email at supremecare@sbcglobal.net
Our website is: www.supremecareleatherservice.com
Check out our Gallery of the restoration projects done by myself. Here you'll get an idea of knowing how the Leather Master Products can produce the end results.

RE: Restoring Shine to Marble Floor
Dear Helen,

You are not going to be able to do this on your own. You need to hire a pro to do this. Start by going to one of the tile stores located near you, talk with the owner or sales manager. Good chance they either provide this service or they may work with a few contractors that they can recommend. I would stay away from the big box stores for this info, because you don.t know who you will end up with. This type of work is a crafted skill and those who take pride in their work will also hand pick their tiles or stone for the perfect match.
This type of restoration calls for special equipment to do this type of process in restoring your marble stone. The two processes require either a diamond polish prcedure or a pumice process, after this is done the'll either put a patina or impregnated sealer into the stone for longevity.
You can also find a reputable contractor over the internet who is certified in Stone,Masonry & Tile (SMT) specialist at www.iicrc.org Here you'll have a handful of pro's located near or close to you. I can assure you that you will be able to find what you are looking for on this site. I am also a certified pro with many titles under my belt with the IICRC. They are the largest certified oranization in the world and most amongst us are confident in the services we provide for the public.
For all you other marble owners, please take the same advise, marble is not cheap and you want the best result in the end. (Hire a Pro)
Last but not least, please be prepared for the cost of having this done, it may not be cheap, because this is a restoration process. Lots of luck into your venture.
Sincerely, Mark
