I am a stay at home mom for the most part (I sub teach). We have 5 girls, including 2 sets of twins. Our youngest 3 had always been in a Christian School, but two years we started homeschooling.
This is the first time since I was 18 that I have not worked 40 or more hours outside the home and I love it. I like to spend time with my children while they are still children, and so we will see how the homeschooling goes. We have already found a good HS coop to join, and our local christian school invites homeschool kids to join in their sports and field trips, so socialization is not an issue.
We farm-cows, horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits....and garden , can and freeze so that I can stay home with our children. I sew, cook and bake, from scratch, buy in bulk and on sale. I trade, barter, recycle, reuse, don't throw it out till its wore out. I am kind of looking for a way to bring in a little extra cash, so I am advertising to do some childcare in my home. I am always looking for new ideas.

| RE: Dampness and Mildew in a Closet |
I would start by making sure you have no leaky pipes or roof anywhere. if so, fix them. Then I would get a dehumidifier. While it is running, leave the closet doors open. You may also need to instal a exaust fan in your bathrooms and kitchen as well.
You may also need to install a vapor barrier in your outside walls and floor. ... View related article. |

| RE: Wedding Shower Hosted By a Stepmother |
I would let the family host her family one. However, you said the 2 sides of the family don't mix well. After they have her shower, you may also host a 2nd one if they fail to invite the other side of the family, or don't invite her friends.
There is nothing wrong with a bride having more than one shower, however normally you don't invite the same people to each. ... View related article. |

| RE: My Frugal Life: Eliminating The Grocery Store |

Good idea. As a farmer (we sell and butcher our own meat), I find it interesting to see the difference in prices across the country. We can sell a whole cow, grass fed for $800-$1000. Always check different sources as prices vary a lot. As a rule, you will pay a lot more for anything labeled organic. For chickens, it is very simple to raise your own--easier than most people think. ... View related article. |

I dip mine in boiling water for a few seconds. Then allow them to cool in ice water and the skins should slip right off. A large slotted spoon or small strainer works better to do this with than tongs. ... View related article. |
