| RE: Christmas Gifts for Grandchildren |
|
Years ago when trying to do Santa on nothing, my husband and I went to a construction site where a house was being built and we ask for the small pieces of wood that was being thrown away. We took the pieces home and sanded each one smooth. By the time we was through each kid had a bucket full of blocks of the oddest assortment. They both played with their bucket of blocks for years and the items that we bought was barely touched. ... View related article. |

| RE: Finding a Reasonably Priced Wedding Venue and Caterer |
I recently attended a fall wedding. It was the most beautiful I have ever attended. She used fall pumpkins, garden vegetable like squash & bell peppers and basically weeds to decorate. It was beside a pond. To mark her isle she used pots that had the weeds in them-she had gone to a field and gathered anything that had color (I think there was some magnolia branches in there also). It turned out really pretty! She had borrowed chairs from a church. The only expense was she rented a portable toilet. She served cake and finger foods that was prepared previously.
The wedding cake was made by a local grocery store and they really put some time in it because they had never got to do anything that "fancy". Her brides table was covered in regular fabric but lots of it. It had pretty folds and ribbon laying with it. Her wedding had her and the groom with the minister on box like structure that got them a little higher and the bridesmaids and the grooms was a little to the side. This really put the spotlight on them. Hope this gives you some ideas.
Also, If you have the reception place look around outside where the reception will be held there might be a good spot there and not cost anything more. ... View related article. |

| RE: 2 Year Old Birthday Party Ideas |
Party: mama, daddy & siblings and a cake & you will have a party. Might invite grandma & grandpa's if they live near.
Presents:, start now as you intend to continue might select something that is meaningful. One of mine loves shoes (it seams from birth) and the other money (the same). So I have added nice little collection for them over the years.
Cake: I always fixed mine the same cake each year. Now both of them are grown and get highly upset if they think they won't get their special cake (because I'm not there). Both say their cakes mean birthday. My daughter's is a cookie cake and my son's a dirt cake. Last year a girlfriend had to call to find out what a dirt cake was so she could make it.

| RE: Dying Carpet |

First you will need to know what fiber your carpet is made out of. Some of them can't be dyed. I would have a carpet cleaning company come and give an estimate for dyeing. Sometimes it is not more expensive than having it cleaned. ... View related article. |

| RE: Ideas for a Vegetarian Cooking for Meat Eaters |
|
My husband stops on his way home and gets his regular fix of fried chicken knowing I will have dinner fixed. I never say a word. If cooking poultry makes you sick-don't do it. Have your husband set up the grill and grill a weeks worth of meat at one time. Have him freeze this in zip lock bags or alumumn foil. It is easy to reheat smaller portions in the oven, croc pot or microwave. My husband knows that his diet is what makes him have his health issues while I have none. He is choosing this path and I have learned that it is not my responsibly to make all his choices for him. I also use TVP and my husband does not notice the difference. ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting Rid of Fleas |
|
I'm starting to think it is impossible to get rid of all of the fleas! How do you treat their faces with Dawn without getting it into their eyes? I've tried dawn and have seen dead fleas but I don't want to get it into the eyes so that part is untreated. ... View related article. |

| RE: 6 Year Old Having Frequent Accidents |
|
I wouldn't make a big deal about it. My granddaughter was "trained" at 2 and has started wetting the bed recently and having accidents. She is 6 also. I see that discouraged look in her eyes when my daughter fusses at her. Being a little older I just feel like there are bigger issues to do battle over but she feels it is unacceptable since she knows better. Just make sure that you take her often to the bathroom. I've noticed that it mostly happens when granddaughter is busy at play or at night when she is asleep. Maybe jot down a note on a calendar when she does it and what is going on-this might give you a clue as to why this is happening. ... View related article. |

| RE: Nothing Has Worked To Get Rid Of Fleas |
|
I'm having the same problem! I have had a pest control guy in twice this summer, spread some slow release stuff that was expensive (did not work), Epsom salted, dawn soap. I've been taking him daily for a dip in the ocean and that is helping some. I need help also if anyone has a suggestion. Our dog is refusing to get out of the truck now and looks at his yard with sad eyes like he is saying don't make me go in there! There is stuff in there that will eat me! ... View related article. |
