RE: Loose Hinges and Screws
Thats a good idea "Repair Guy" . . . . but from a "Fix-it" MoM, I have been fixing loose screws with match sticks and toothpicks for years! Putting a knife to wood is not a good idea for me! Would cost me way to much in Band-aids and trips to the Dr's office! But my husband thinks your way is great - must be a guy thing! Thanks ... View related article.

RE: Saving Money on Steak
WoW - some great ideas - now heres mine!

We are meat eaters, but have now learned to eat smaller portions. To start with, most of the time we marinate well (sometimes overnite). This goes for steak, chops and chicken. Then my husband bar-b-q's (year round, even in the winter snow!).

Now that it is just the two of us, I still buy the "family" packs and bar-b-q the whole package. The first meal we make sure that we have baked potatoe and/or veg and/or salad ( at least two other things) to round out the dinner. Then we have left overs for several nites. Using the left over meat we make tacos, soup, sandwiches or put the meat on top of salads. We can make a nice T-bone last at least 3 meals.

We also buy most of out meat on sale and put it in the freezer. It makes us feel good to have a great dinner and then discuss just how much we would have had to pay if we had of gone out to a nice place to eat!

We also have our own garden and are thinking about adding a few chickens this spring!

And spending time on this site is such a money saver - KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!! ... View related article.

RE: Scented Sleepy Time Pal for Kids
Heating the lavender will make it degrade faster than if you just give the area a good squeeze. I had some old lavender eye pillows left over that were a few years old. I just squeeze them and hand a couple to my granddaughter to hold and most times she quiets right down and takes a nice nap. Lavender is very easy to grow and dry. One plant will give you more than enough lavender a season to keep the little ones calm and quite at naptime. And it is good for so many other things also. ... View related article.

RE: Feed Pumpkin To Your Dogs
. . . and cats like it too! As a matter of fact just about any "farm" animal will eat, benifit and enjoy pumpkin! I had leftover pumpkin so googled and found some home made facials using pumpkin! (just let it warm up to room temp before putting it on your face - darn that was cold!) We strive to use and/or re-use just about everything around here! ... View related article.

RE: Roasting Squash Seeds
Thank-you, thank-you! Sorry to say that the squash seeds were already in the compost when the light went on that maybe I could roast them like pumpkin and sunflower seeds. So the next squash we get will get its seeds roasted! and again, thank you all very much! Sheri ... View related article.

RE: Paint Suggestions for Tan, White and Gray Kitchen
WOW - sounds like this Kitchen will take just about any color! Good for you! Here's a thought, choose a theam and not a color. A few years back I changed my Kitchen from "Blues" to "Fruit", Fruit on the Dishes and some of the cook-ware. Fruit on the throw rugs and items that sit on the counters - have even thrown a few vegtables (I have a "carrot" potato peeler). I have a friend, who after seeing what I was doing, went with chicken and roosters! My Daughter-in-law has gone with apples!

What ever you decide - just have fun with it!!
