RE: Treating a Dog's Ear Infection Without Antibiotics
Do Not Use Water or Peroxide (which has water in it) in your dogs ear. Vinegar also adds to a yeast infection If you must use anyhting I suggest swabbing it out with alcohal I really would try another Vet if you aren't happy or if that is not an option go to a place on the internet like Drs foster & smith I really think that a Vet's help is a necessity! ... RE: Rehydrating Beans in Hard Water
This is the best method I have ever used I found it on Alton Brown's show on food TV. Using a large container with a lot of water, Put in a good amount of salt . The water should taste salty Put in beans making sure they are well cover with water (make sure water is still salty.) Put a cover on the beans and let set at least 24 hours room temperature. When ready to cook rinse beans well to remove all salt . This is very important It took several good rinses. Then cover with unsalted water and cook gently until tender. Wonder of all wonders it was the best best method I had ever used. (Thank you Alton Brown!) ... View related article.

RE: Wedding Cocktail Reception on a Tight Budget
I have "catered" all 3 of my childrens receptions and the first thing to do is to borrow any decorations you can I took magnolia swags off of my walls and put them around candles Looked great! Next get some volunteers to help clean and serve food (barter by volunteering to help them) Make up your menu well in advance, be flexible if need be. Use food items in season. We used plain white foam plates and bought colored napkins. Do you really need your name and date on the napkins? they are very expensive.Start buying food in advance and freeze it if you can.You can do this just be practical and you may be surprised sometimes less is great not to mention it will teach you how to be "Thrifty and have fun" ... RE: Collard Greens Recipe
Wash the greens and strip them off of the thick stem. Tear them into desired size. Place in a large pot (tightly) and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then turn down to a soft boil, cover and cook until desired tenderness. About half way through you need to add flaver such a ham, bacon or sometimes I use ham soup base found in the soup section at your grocery store. Check for flavor when greens are done then add a little vinegar to taste. The lady who shared this recipe some times puts a little oil in to help with the vinegar /oil flavor. ... RE: Getting Pets to Swallow Pills
It would be better to get a soft treat that is good for the dogs and place the pill in the treat.. Butter or margerine is a fat and can cause a panceratic attack amoung other things. I have a Yorkie who is very sensitive to foods other than her dog food and shredded carrots so this is first hand knowledge. Ask your vet the next time you visit! They will tell you to avoid human food if possible! ... View related article.
