| RE: Ways to Freeze Cabbage |
I take a head of cabbage and quarter it. Cut the heart out of it (the center hard part) and then wedge them smaller place it in freezer bags (pts) and freeze them. Then when I make vegetable soup I just take one wedge and cook it along with the rest of the veggies. My mother-in-law used to make what she called freezer slaw. I didn't care for it because it was with vinegar instead of the mayo base. The recipe would be found on internet. I'm getting ready today to freeze my cabbage wedges for this winter. ... | RE: Home Remedy For Foot Calluses |
I had this last week only my callouses had cracks in them. I happened to come across a green tin called Bag Balm. It's originally used to help keep a cow's teats soft but believe me it works on humans also. I've had cracks in my fingers in the winter and this takes care of them. I put some of this salve on my feet just as I get into bed and the next morning my feet have no more cracks that hurt. It takes a couple of nights to really soften the callouses but it's great. You can find this in a farm supply store like Tractor Supply. It's just great. Sometimes the old fashioned ways are best! ... View related article. |

| RE: Caring for a Turtle |
We've had a turtle for 13 years. He started the size of a quarter and now he's bigger that I can hold. We started him in an aquarium - must be a 10 gallon. We put a rock in that was big enough for him to crawl up on to get out of the water. When he grew so did the rock. You can put smaller stones to make a walkway for it but ours like the 'physical workout' in order to get up on his. We purchase Wardley Reptile sticks for him to eat. He comes to the front of his tank and bangs around and 'scratches' the front of his tank while I'm at the computer. Now, he does go through this smelly stage a couple of times a year. He goes into a dormancy during the winter. Let me tell a funny - One day I thought 'Stinky (turtle's name) was in this smelly state. I asked our son to change Stinky's water. He did and it still smelled awful. I walked back in the room and there was our son's shoes. That what smelled! Teenage shoes. Anyway, we thoroughly enjoy our turtle and hope you have a long happy life with yours. ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting Adult Child to Clean Up |
I do know from experience that this can be very frustrating. We have 3 daughters. All three have gone or are going to college. When the oldest 2 were living in dorms they were a mess! But now that they have their own homes they are spotless. Once they have to live in their own mess and try to find things or have kids of their own they do change! I figure they are only going to take care of their own stuff when they live on their own. Good luck. ... View related article. |

| RE: Freezing Yellow Squash |
I freeze zucchini for zucchini bread, cakes etc. I shred it with my food processor, measure it into 2 cups (which is what my recipe calls for) and place in freezer bag, squeeze out the extra air. Upon thawing, I put it (frozen zucchini)into a colander, let the extra water drain, give it an extra squeeze and then continue with recipe. This works out great!! As for yellow squash - don't know - our family doesn't prefer. Hope this helped ... View related article. |
