RE: Uses for One Shoe
I agree with Catastrofy ~~ donate them to veteran's hospitals, rehab centers, and such. I have a condition that prevents me from wearing a shoe on one foot & have a collection of unused shoes, sneakers, slippers, etc.. that can be used by someone else with use for only one as well.

I agree that footwear can be cute when used decoratively, but with all they've done for our country, vets could use our help in many different ways. ... View related article.

RE: Have Kids Make School Lunches The Night Before
I do that for my own lunch as well. I put the "dry" ingredients closest to the bread & "wet" ingredients in the middle so the bread doesn't get soggy. With PB&J, I spread PB on both slices of bread & put the J in the middle. ... View related article.

RE: Central Air Conditioner Reviews
Heat pumps are only efficient (and don't need a back up heat source) until 30 degrees F. Once it drops below that temp (in northern climes), it loses its' efficiency - making them better suited to warmer climates.

You might want to consider a Hallowell Acadia Heat Pump (heat AND air conditioning). It operates efficiently even at minus 30 degrees F.

It operates VERY efficiently and you may even qualify for the tax credit (up t $1500, I believe). ... View related article.

RE: Natural Home Remedies for Chafing
Hi there ladies (and any gents). Just wanted to update you on what I found that seems to be working VERY well - Monistat Soothing Care Cream (not the powder). I tried talc, cornstarch, and just about any other suggestion that came my way. Unfortunately, I had too hard a time finding pettipants in my size & that were cotton. Anyway, I can use it wherever I had - or anticipated - chaffing & it works great! Thanks again to everyone who came up with all those wonderful solutions!! I knew I could count on you all to steer me in the right direction! ... View related article.

RE: Frugal Wrinkle Releaser
LOL, Wondernana!

If my clothes are clean but wrinkled, I just mist plain ole water on them (via a spray bottle) and give 'em a good shake/smoothing over. The wrinkles disappear just as they would with the fabric softener mixture (which I only use on clothing that could stand a little freshening up before wearing). ... View related article.

RE: Natural Home Remedies for Chafing
Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions! I figured powders would be too messy, but it looks like it might be the way to go after all. I'll be looking into the other ideas as well. You ladies are the best! I knew I could count on you to help me out! Thanks again! ... View related article.

RE: Natural Home Remedies for Chafing
Wow - thanks for all your replies! I'll look into the pettipants (but am not too thrilled wearing nylon).
I was hoping for something that can also be applied under the breasts as well (but thought that might be too much information in my original posting - LOL!)

I tried the link posted by kffrmw88, but for some reason an error comes up when I click on it. Thanks again!

Editor's Note: Try that link on kffrmw88's post again. It's fixed. ... View related article.

RE: Number Socks to Match
I safety pin socks together. Keeps my machine from "eating" them and makes sorting MUCH easier. My hubby-to-be has various types of black dress socks that seem to take forever to match up & I've saved time - and sanity by pinning them. ... View related article.
