RE: Getting Dogs to Sit Still for Nail Trimming
Are the dog clippers you have the ones w/ the circle that you put the nail into? If so, throw them away! I found similar clippers called cat nail clippers at Walmart except they open all the way up so you don't have to try to get the nail into the stupid circle part. They work a lot better. I've also had some luck w/ people toenail clippers. A friend of mine use to put her dog in a pillow case w/ just the paw sticking out. Not sure how well that would work. ... View related article.

RE: Making a Door Stop
For holidays, you can fill a can or plastic container w/ rocks or sand & place in a decorative. holiday-themed gift bag, place some tissue paper in the top & use that as a door stop. For Christmas, you can do the same w/ a box and wrap it in gift paper w/ a bow. ... View related article.

RE: Old Fashioned Hard Boiled Eggs
I tried this: http://www.recipesource.com/main-dishes/eggs/01/rec0137.html
for the easter eggs this year. It was time intensive but no eggs cracked, there was no green around the yolks, even after a few days in the fridge, they all peeled easily, and the yolks were centered in the white. ... View related article.

RE: Turning a Raised Pool Deck Into a Playhouse
Jean,
I'm trying to come up with shading ideas as well. I'm in Florida so I definitely need shade for them but there's also that pesky issue of hurricanes so I need something that I can take down. I think there are some bamboo shades in the attic left from the previous home owners. I might be able to use that for the sunny side. Now I need to figure out something for a cover. Maybe an umbrella or some type of removable awning. I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive solution. I had an idea last night to paint the deck flooring to look like it has a throw rug on it. ... RE: Homemade Christmas Crafts
Thanks to everyone who responded! There are some really good ideas in there (oh, & I saw somewhere that you can make the oreo cookies into refridgerator magnets). And "hey" to Jannie in Chumuckla!

RE: Choosing a Stroller
The one touch button feature is nice but you also have to make sure that you can easily fit the stroller in the trunk of your car or back of an SUV or whatever you have. That's the biggest drawback to some of the strollers, they're just way too bulky & even if you can collapse it with one hand, you have to wrestle with it to get it in the car. For a newborn, I like the ones w/ the carseat that pops out of the stroller, then the stroller can be used alone when the baby can sit upright. After that, a decent umbrella stroller is fine. I bought a double stroller once at Toys-R-Us and explained to them that if it didn't fit in the trunk of my car, I couldn't get it. They were very nice and the manager walked out to my car with me and we put the stroller in my trunk before I bought it. You might be able to find a store that would let you try that, just go at a slow shopping time. If not, at least collapse it yourself in the store and see how big it is and how easy it is to manuever when collapsed. Congrats & good luck! ... View related article.

RE: Hanging a Blanket on the Wall
You can by quilt blocks. These are usually made out of wood & the quilt or blanket slides between the blocks & you tighten it up w/ screws then the whole thing mounts to the wall. I bought a set on ebay from a couple who makes them. They are really nice and not very expensive. ... View related article.

RE: Scar Remedies
Scar therapy works well. My daughter use to get mosquito bites on her face & then pick at them until they scarred over. It took a couple of months but the scar therapy worked. The second time, I bought the Walmart brand. It was much cheaper and worked just as well. ... View related article.
