| RE: Dog is Tearing Up the Carpet |
I don't know what kind of dog you have, but he is having separation anxiety. If you give him a long walk (lots of exercise) every single day, especially before you leave the house it would help a great deal. In addition, you could get a kong toy, stuff it with peanut butter around the inside edges and freeze it. Give it to him just before you leave the house. This will keep him occupied for quite some time licking the peanut butter out of the kong. But, exercise is usually the key to most behavior problems.
I speak from experience of having many dogs over many years. I currently have 3 dogs who require much exercise, and it's a pleasure spending time with them walking or getting exercise we both need.
If all else fails, your vet can give you med for separation anxiety, but try the exercise and kong first. Some breeds require more activity than others, and some breeds need to be with their owners more than others. For instance, a guarding dog like a German Shepherd will be nervous if they are separated from their owner for any length of time as it's in their DNA to guard and protect. Also a few other breeds. Good luck. ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting Rid of Mouse in Car |
|
Here's a simple solution. Do you have a cat? If you do, just let your cat spend a little time in the car, and that should take care of the situation. If you don't have a cat, mayby you could borrow a neighbor's cat for a short time. ... View related article. |

| RE: Treating a Dog with Yeast Infection |
|
What kind of vets are they that leave this little dog suffering with this infection? You should report them and go to another vet. Meanwhile, I have heard that yogurt is good for yeast infections. I don't know about curing it, but a little yogurt each day might prevent yeast infections in dogs. I know several people who use it for that reason and for their dogs who have diarrhea. I would go with the advice about organic yogurt or at least stay away from the flavored ones. You might try putting a little yogurt right on the red area and see if that gives her some relief. ... | RE: Campbell's Pepper Jack Soup Recipe |

Don't you mean 'Pepper Pot' soup? We love it at my house but haven't found it in a long time. I know it had tripe in it and it was spicy. Very good. I hope someone can duplicate that recipe. ... View related article. |

| RE: Mia (German Shepherd) |
|
I hope sweet Mia is feeling much better. I have a GSD female, and I have had GSD's for many years. I have never had one that had a stroke. My vet said the only pain med to give a dog other than prescripbed med is 'buffered aspirin,' nothing else. Other things are very harmful. I hope you take Mia for a walk every day. She would enjoy the exercise and the time with you. Of course, your vet should be consulted about everything since she had her stroke. Treasure her because she is a treasure. ... | RE: Dog Pees in Crate |
|
Be sure to take him out to the bathroom before he goes to sleep for the night. Also be sure you don't keep him in the crate too many hours before letting him out again to go to the bathroom. Dogs usually need to go as soon as they wake up. If he's going in his crate, it would seem he's in there too long. ... View related article. |

| RE: Dog With an Ear Infection |
|
The dog is suffering. This is no time for amateur treatments. You must take the dog to the vet. After the infection clears up, clean the ears once a week. Beagles, cocker spaniels, etc. have long, hanging ears that need to be cleaned often. I use equal parts white vinegar and water (warmed a little). This is what my vet advised. Once the infection is gone, the vinegar should help keep the ears clear. Your vet might have a better maintenance idea. Good luck. ... View related article. |

| RE: Skinny German Shepherd |
|
By all means get another vet. I feed my GSD Purina One Large Breed Weight Management food. That works well for her and she likes it. She's healthy and her weight is good. You don't want an overweight GSD, but you don't want him emaciated either. Let another vet get a good look at him. There seems to be something causing him to be so thin if he doesn't have parsites, etc. I've had so many GSD's, and I have been fortunate that they have all been healthy. Good luck! ... You can mix it with whipped cream or cool whip and put it in the middle of a layer cake. Or even use it without the whipped cream. I love lemon curd. I have a lemon tree, and I also use lemon curd on top of cheesecake. It's great. ... View related article. |
