RE: Dizzy Lizzy (Iguana)
I think it is great you have an Iguana. People end up getting them as babies and give them away when they get large. But you have kept yours and even consider it a family member. It is as big as a cat! :) ... View related article.

RE: What Breed is My Dog?
I hate it that people blame the breed and not the owners and I also hate the reputation that Pitts have gotten just because of terrible people who got the breed without knowledge.

This is a sweet dog and despite her breed, she is as gentle as any other. Do not kick the man out, do not kick the dog out. If you really want to help someone then get over weak thoughts and others negative opinions and allow them both a chance to get on their feet. I think your brother is over reacting.

Yes, other Pitts have hurt people, but that does not mean this one will. As long as it is taken care of with love, and given a firm but kind hand, it will return it. But if you abuse it -like any other dog- it will turn on you. ... View related article.

RE: Use Pig Ears in a Sock for Dog's Dental Hygiene
I am VERY MUCH agreeing with the first poster. Never let your dog chew on socks, especially textiles that can be ripped off and swallowed.

If you continue to ignore these warnings, the dog will end up giving you a huge vet bill, or the dog will suffer by dying due to the fact you are too cheap to pay that vet bill. You can get healthy dog toys at the dollar store, including the dental ropes, and they are 1-2 bucks a piece. ... View related article.

RE: Dog Keeps Whining in the Morning
I am just going to get my post removed. It's causing unnecessary arguing.

I have gotten a lot of good and constructive ideas despite, and I appreciate it.

To dog lover: Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. You are talking smack about someone who is assuming that I take care of my animals and bring them to the vet -yet you are assuming I >>don't<<. Isn't that called bring a hypocrite? If you would read below, I responded to that question already. I don't plan on reading it over to you again.
Sorry I didn't go into great infinite details in my thread, but I think in the end it is not any of your business what I do with my animals. They are well fed, nurtured, and have a large yard to play in.

Everyone should keep in mind that anyone can lie on the internet. Whether someone says 'this and that' it could be true or untrue. I think it is up to a person to make the assumption but >>keep it to yourself<< because you certainly aren't making friends or helping anyone by just attacking others.

RE: Puppy Seems to be Blind
Hi, was there something wrong with the mother that you had to take the puppy so young? A puppy should stay with its mother until 8 weeks of age.

Please let us know what happens after you take him to the vet. Even if he is blind, he will make a loving boy I'm sure, and dogs have wonderful noses and those big ears :)

Sorry I cannot help more than that. ... View related article.

RE: Dog Keeps Whining in the Morning
Answers to the below:

He does get regular vet visits, he's fixed and has all his shots, and is going at the end of this month for his renewed PCPV and Rabies and his registration.

The dog was brought in for training. It's not that the issue (he sits, stays, lays down, fetches his toys etc). He's just the type of dog that is very people-oriented. if you leave him alone for even a second, not even confined to a room, he starts a whine.

I really want to get him a friend, but right now we cannot afford it, so it will have to wait for another year.

I do have two cats as well, they're very well taken care of. And I have had birds before, zebra finches. They would have been great pets if the cat had not broken into the cage when I left to go to the store and killed them. After that I sold the cage, accessories and never got birds again. I have also had beta fish, and they died of old age, 3 years old. ... View related article.

RE: Dog Keeps Whining in the Morning
I'm looking for some advice on a solution so he does not wake me and my husband up between 8am and 11am for no reason- not for people to tell me that the dog is bored.

I don't plan on giving him up, so tell me that all you want but not going to happen.
Trust me when I say he is not alone all day, I have a roomate and a husband to entertain him.

I do not think it is so hard for other people who own a dog to get some sleep, so what are they doing to help that cycle?

Thanks ... View related article.

RE: Dog Keeps Whining in the Morning
I didn't think I had to let everyone know my exact schedule.

The dog (and me) go to bed aroujnd 2-3 in the AM sometimes later because my shift ends at midnight and I come home sometimes later. He does not sleep more than 8 hours a night.

I am NOT having him sleep more in the day, I never said that anywhere in my post. ... View related article.

RE: Does Fixing a Cat Help With Behavior?
Both my two fixed male cats are talkative. One is a Siamese so that is natural, and the other picked it up from my Siamese.

I believe fixing does help with behavior and the spraying, but the meowing just might be part of his personality. :)

What works for me is if they start, I just kinda chase them for a second and they forget what they were doing (ie: meowing) haha. ... View related article.
