| RE: Homemade Remedies For Dog's Coughing |
|
We've been fighting this cough since Memorial Day weekend. I've had two vet consults at my regular vet as well as a third vet. My dog is a 13 yr old pug who has a narrow trachea. The first two vets think his trachea is beginning to collapse. The very first diagnosis was cough due to the renovations were doing in our home (made since to me--I had a cough too!). The work was done and over in 3 days and he's been coughing ever sense. The third vet thinks that the cough is due to the renovations and he is now sensitive to allergans. The meds the vets have him on now have calmed the cough (he sounded like a honking goose), now he sounds like an old person hacking and coughing. His lungs are clear, it is a dry cough, but he still coughs the majority of the time he's awake which further aggravates his throat. ARRGH! ... View related article. |

| RE: Looking For Frozen Rhubarb |
|
Fresh rhubarb has just started appearing in our fresh fruit/vegetable section in the stores as well as the farmer's markets (Indiana). I would suggest a fm or ethnic grocery store if you haven't already. As for frozen, try closer to Thanksgiving at the grocery that has a good selections of unique/odd items. ANother thought is to ask at the customer service desk if they can order it frozen. Our local grocery will do this, especially with items that will last on the shelves. Maybe try a resturant supplier. Sorry that this doesn't help you right now. I went through the same dilema last year at Christmas. I was going to make a rhubarb pie for my husband and voila my main ingredient (which had been in the fresh and frozen section up until 2 weeks before I needed it!) was nowhere to be found. ... | RE: Potty Training Regression |
How old is your child? I've taught preschool for the past 10 years and have pottytrained more children than I can count. Potty training regression is not that unusual. Most Pedetricians will tell you not to get worried until a child is 6 or so. Often regression is a response to a change at home--new baby, new home, family illness--basically anything that causes stress. When someone has accidents frequently at school I start charting the time of day and what was going on prior to it happening (Did they just eat? PLay outside? Engrossed in an activity) I have a child right now that goes within 20 minutes of eating and is often unaware that he needs to go. We know to remind him to go try within that time frame (he's 4 1/2).
Reminding your child gently that if he doesn't put his poop in the potty it will get all over his bottom should also help, you will probably say it so many times you'll hear it in your sleep, but the lesson will stick. We also have the child help clean up the mess (they put on diaper changing gloves and we handle any chemicals that may be needed). At home we reccommend that the children help clean their soiled laundry as well. Yes it is gross, but again you can take steps to keep hands relatively clean and then supervise a thorough hand washing. Often having to deal with that unpleasant BUT natural consequence is enough.
And as always, if you feel there is something more going on speak with your pediatrician. ... View related article. |

| RE: Use Children's Artwork for Scrapbooking |
|
As a preschool teacher I often from parents that they don't know what to do with all the artwork the children expect them to display. I always suggest making a book from it (like a coffee table display book). Another suggestion I have is to use larger drawings/paintings as wrapping paper for loved ones. This is great for the multitudes of "beauiful" pictures that come home every day. ... View related article. |

It could also be hormones. Google "PCOS"--hair loss can be attributed to it, I know from personal experience. Best wishes, I have not found anything that works for me.
