| RE: Planning 100th Birthday Party |
HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER! We had a photographer at my grandmother's 85th birthday and got group photos and family portraits. This was the best thing ever. Look at your local college but do not skimp and think that Uncle Albert has a great camera and he can take them. YOu need someone with portrait photography skills after all that is why you go to a photographer because they know how to place people for a great setting and they have the correct equipment.
These is only once you can get these pictures and it will be well worth the money. Ask them if they can put them online or if they can do preview shots there that day. ... View related article. |

| RE: Semi-Permanent Room Divider |
|
When my husband was growing up he and his step sister shared a room for a while. They took a set of bunk beds and placed in the middle of the room. One side of the room was for the top bunk and a sheet of plywood from the ceiling down to the top bunk. On the other side another piece of plywood was placed from the floor to the bottom of the top bunk. They each had their space but they were in the same room. Hope this helps. ... Have you not made a mistake before? Let it go! Things happen and misfortunes happen. Try to get the paint out of the carpeting and if it won't come out than you can pick out new carpeting. I know that is probably not an expense you want right now so look for an alternative solution for the stain- put a rug over it! ... View related article. |

| RE: Freezing Pumpkins |
I have been freezing pumpkins for about 20 years now. My poor children are not allowed to carve their halloween pumpkins so mommy can cook them. I have a great aunt that thinks I am nuts and ask me if I know that they sell pumpkin in cans in the store and it is a whole lot easier.
Whatever, cooking up pumpkins is not very hard and it is so worth it to have fresh pumpkin in things. YES there is a difference in the taste. I make my uncle a homemade pumpkin pie when he comes home. The process that they discribe here is so simple and you will be thrilled with the fresh pumpkin taste.
Like someone else said I do not buy the small pie pumkins after all how many pumpkins would you have to cook for a decent amount of pies. I look for the biggest and best that you can find. Also I look after Halloween sometimes they are cheaper. Or ask people for the ones that they bought to decorate with- after all MOST people do not cook pumpkins so I bet you could find several for free if you just ask around. Happy eating! ... I am saying this to let you know that she did not have much money but did well with the little she got. She use to make use grandchildren Christmas ornaments! That was one of her gifts to us every year. She past away two years ago this month (July) and we miss her but come Christmas time my tree is FULL of Christmas ornaments that grandma made.
You can go to Hobby Lobby and buy the beaded kits to make several of them and then get different ones every year. She also sewed us one year it was a kleenex box cover that looked like a present (for a square box), a jewelry keeper, a quilted cassorole carrier. I know some of these are too old for the little ones but maybe for their mothers. My aunt made me a quiet book when I little that would be great for the youngest. Oh Yes grandma also made puppets out of washclothes that we used for years. There a lot of crafty ideas out there that the children will charish more than any store bought toy! ...
