People who really don't want to GIVE their stuff away at garage sales are going to do a little internet research and realize that that old trumpet (or whatever) is worth something and will take it to the local instrument dealer to sell, or try to sell it on their own on Ebay, Craiglist or the local free Pennysaver magazine. On the other hand some people have enough money and really don't care and are willing to practically give it away in order to "clean house", garage sales are great for that sort of buyer who has the time and energy to look for that sort of seller.
Don't condemn someone because they have the wherewithall to do something you 1) can't or 2) won't do. Everyone has their cross to bear and life is tough for everyone in one way or another. Many have hurdles to jump until they can make even the smallest advance in life. Be supportive of everyone, one day you may be the one w/ the great idea or wherewith all to achieve something, wouldn't you want others to support you instead of tearing you down?
My question to this original poster is: How often do you find good deals like this? Once a week, once a month? and how many sales do you go to, to accomplish a transaction like this? I'm not an early riser, but could learn to be if the deals are good.. I love to resale shop and find awesome deals on clothes and household items, thing I would pay 10x as much for new I find almost new at the thrift store. ... View related article.
I was a bartender and waitress for 13 years. My rule of thumb is and has always been to tip a $1 a drink and 15-20% of the food bill depending on service received. Everyone about is correct about waitstaff making less than minimum wage and needing tips to make it a living wage. I just look at it this way if you were at home in your living room and someone was waiting on you bringing your drinks and cleaning up your mess wouldn't it be worth the buck a drink? The bill for the food and booze is the actual cost the product itself, plus the markup to pay the staff for cooking it or being there to serve it to you, for the buildings rent or mortgage, lights, heat, air, cable that you're watching, t.p, water, dish detergent. You get the picture. ... View related article.
I would go to the walmart or home depot and get a whole house fogger, specifically for fleas and ticks, they work on spiders and other bugs too. Get up early one morning take the pets w/ you out somewhere or to board at the local kennel. As you leave the house set off the fogger (s) depending how big your house is, will determine how many foggers you may need, put them in central locations throughout the house so they can reach as many area's & different rooms as possible.
While your gone, at work etc. the house will be fumigated. Come home open all the windows, put some fans in the Windows to pull in the outside air and after about 10 minutes bring your pets back into the house. Also your local pet store or vet probably sells a premisis spray to spray directly on your mattress, bedding, upholstery, under couches, chairs beds, etc. follow instructions on can. Last but not least, actually you should do this first before anything else, make sure you are treating your pets w/ frontline, or vectra or the like, every month, people can carry fleas and ticks into their homes on their clothing and even if you have an indoor pet, the fleas and ticks will jump onto the pet feed and breed, and your house w/ become infested.
My sister gets fleas in her house when she takes her infant over to a friends house who babysits her child for her occasionally. The fleas come home on the baby's clothing or the baby's bag, and infest my sisters house and cat, because her friend doesn't treat her many cats with flea and tick product, so now my sister has to treat her cat for fleas, because the friend didn't treat her own. ... I don't know whether it was super glue or gorilla glue, but I had a lot of it in little splotches on my white island counter top. It's been there for at least two years, I've tried majic erasers w/ no luck. Today I decided to do an internet search and found this page, got out my acetone nail polish remover and a very fine steel wool pad(for refinishing wood), and my magic eraser. The trick was to soak either a cotton ball or majic eraser and the steel wool w/ the acetone nail polish remover, and rub rub rub, and then rub some more and then some more. aLow and behold the spots are gone! YAY! Thank you so much for helping me resolve this issue, I looked like a bad housekeeper w/ food stuck to my counter top! But no more! I love the internet! ... View related article.
