I used to work in a bakery with my sister and we always used styrofoam. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they can be cut for what you need if you are making odd shapes. We made an icing with just powdered sugar and shortening since no one will be eating it there is no need for the butter or flavoring but you can color it. Peanut Butter Pinwheels Powdered Sugar Water Peanut butter Make a dough with the powdered sugar (you don't need to add much liquid), dust the surface with some powdered sugar and rool out the dough like you would for sugar cookie cut outs. Spread with peanut butter. Roll and cut into 1/2 inch slices. Keep these covered or they will dry out.

HOMEMADE BISCUIT MIX
8 cups flour 8 teaspoons baking powder 4 teaspoons salt 1-1/2 cups shortening
Sift flour and measure. Sift again with the baking powder and salt.
Cut in the shortening until the mixture has a fine even crumb. Place in a closed container and keep in refrigerator, using as desired.

Not sure how far they go but I live in Fairmount Indiana and we have a group called the Helping Hands. Every year they put out applications around this town and a few surrounding. Fill them out and turn them back in and if you meet their requirements(low income, elderly etc) They bring you food LOTS of it and gifts for your children. They are wonderful even though I am very low income I try to put money in their jars when I can. ... View related article. |

Check out your dollar stores they always have cop and robber stuff for the kids like little badges, handcuffs etc. Maybe make a black and white stripe shirt to make your Mom look like a jailbird. You could use black licorice on a cake to look like cell bars. My sister works for the sheriffs dept and so does her fiance they are getting married next year and she (a cake decorator in her spare time) is making the grooms cake like their squad cars.
