RE: Finger Foods For Halloween Wedding
My Mum used to use a pumpkin (hollowed out) to serve from. Also, she used the little ones often referred to as gourds (the mini pumpkins) to serve little treats in and even bake personal servings in! (she would even stuff them)Have you considered a white sheet cake with blackberry filling and topped with fresh blackberries/raspberries? Rich fall colors play a big part on halloween - remember that in your foods too; things like yellow, purple, orange bell peppers, carrot sticks, stuffed jalapenos, fried won tons, steamed sticky buns, remember the mini-pumpkins - what about serving a little pumpkin spice cheesecake in them! Do not forget about the chocolate fountain and all the goodies you can have with it like fresh fruit, angel food cake squares, and other stuff! It really depends on how far you want to go - and what your real aim is! ... View related article.

RE: Freezing Cooked Beef
Absolutely! The quicker you freeze meat after it has cooked and cooled - the better. You should have no problem freezing it. Sniff and nibble if you are suspicious- wrap it so you keep out as much air as possible to keep from freezer burn and label clearly. Good job on saving money! ... View related article.

RE: Growing Fruit Trees In Pots
Yes that is a great idea, practical, economical, and forward thinking. There is no reason not to try and grow what you want - what you think may work in the area you are in. Do some research and really explore your possabilities. There are trees you may want to consider and varieties that you haven't. (like nuts and hardier variety of fruits you can send off for and/or start in your house/present yard) that are just not talked about because no one has done that - that way before! Try and see what works for you, remember to have fun and keep it exciting this is for your future and future joys! Great idea - great possabilities! ... View related article.

RE: Planting Pepper Plants in Pots for Winter
Yes! Absolutely! I grew up with my mother doing that, she'd even save seed, plant, and grow them entirely in the house - they would line the window cill. She would do this for most peppers. Enjoy - Great idea ... View related article.

RE: Does Sewing Your Own Things Save Money?
FOLKS!!
Lets face it - SOMETIMES is the rule!!!
SOMETIMES you can find great deals on used clothing (already broken in..) and SOMETIMES things just can't be found in time for whom ever needs the item in want! SOMETIMES you cannot find what you need on sale at walmart! SOMETIMES the only hand me downs only fit a size two - and SOMETIMES it is far more expensive to find the material at the material store! BUT - SOMETIMES it is cheaper to find (actively HUNT) through piles of clothes to find what your family needs in that yardsale or in the thrift/consignment store on half price clearance tag sale or SOMETIMES the dollar a yard table at Walmart has the material that would really make nice PJ's or curtains;SOMETIMES you can find lots of material in bigger clothing, or a set of great sheets that you can take apart to fit smaller sizes - or just use the material for another completely different article! It all depends on SOMETIMES and if you have the skills required for sewing and pick up thread when it's offered to you for a song - or begin to dedicate a drawer or shelf or box for materials... it can be of use! Remember there was life before the modern buy and throw out mentality - it was opportunity and it knocks SOMETIMES!! ... View related article.

RE: Use Bathwater for Cleaning
Hi! Yes, I lived backwoods for years and without plumbing - so we had running water - by foot! It is surprising what most folks take for granted! In the winter we always had a very large stock pot of water on the stove and we had instant washing up water from it (washing dishes or for a basin for personal washup). Then if the watsr wasn't too bad we washed other things with it. (The floor, bleaching out rags, and other wipe downs) until the water was done and we then walked the 'grey' out. I know it is a culture shock, most folks who have never had anything but running hot and cold water at their disposal are perplexed, confused, or disgusted! I really thank God for running water and things like the washer/dryer every time I use them too! (I am in my early fourties!) ... View related article.

RE: Eating The Greens On Broccoli
Thank you folks! I will try. The veg is from our own garden and the leaves on some of the cauliflower are absolutley huge! Then of course the leaves on the red and green cabbage and broccoli! Will try and cook them down and get creative. Freezing helps tame veg some too. I just didn't know if it was done - anywhere. Thanks, oh, - this is probably pushing the envelope, but what about squash leaves? ... View related article.

RE: Reusing Honey Bear Containers
Gosh, they would make great containers for homemade sauces, dips, or not so homemade sauces like katsup or mustard! If you did not want to use them food related, they would make great glue holders, acrylic paint for a large art project or to hold glitter! They would be a cute and secure way to have and transport glass beads if you still have the lids and caps! Wow - the sky's the limit! Enjoy your many more options! ... View related article.
