| RE: Dog Itching |
I had itchy dogs for years. Don't know which did it but I changed to ProPlan Lamb and Rice dog food and Advantage. I heard the "allergy to hay" excuse from my vet for years. I learned from a friend, who had a Lab, that some dogs are allergic to the dye in common dog foods. I think my dog would have died if I hadn't found out the secret to stopping it. Your dog is going to need a shot of steroids to stop the itching after you have used the Advantage. (I never had luck with Frontline.) ProPlan isn't cheap, but it solved the problem. Advantage is available from your vet or online from veterinary supply companies. ... View related article. |

| RE: Excited Dog Peeing in the House |
|
First off, do not greet here loudly. A calm, gentle, hello and a pat on the head will let her know she is loved, but won't get her so excited, as to cause her to pee. Maybe teaching her to sit, before the greeting will help, as well. In time, she will most likely stop doing this. But, my vet told me when I had a terrier mix do this that there was a possibility that she would never get over it. Don't scold her or yell at her, as this will only increase the problem. ... I don't know if it will work on tar, but animal rescue groups use Dawn dish detergent to wash the goo out of the birds feathers, when there has been an oil spill. It worked pretty well when one of my cats got into diesel fuel! ... View related article. |

| RE: Dog Won't Go Outside at Night |
This is the time of year that coyotes and coy-dogs are ranging, as well as foxes, looking for food for their pups. Your Rottie may have heard a coyote yipping and be spooked by it. My German Shepherd used to yell to come in, when she heard the coyotes yipping. It is pretty eerie. I know you listed your address as Detroit, but I live in a town and the coyotes are walking up and down the sidewalks at night and have been seen across the street from my house in broad daylight! ... | RE: Making a Sonic Java Chiller |
I don't know what a Sonic Java Cooler is, as we don't have a Sonic, here in the wilderness. Starbucks are far and few between, as well, but we do have Dunkin Donuts!
I make a diesel strength coffee with my espresso machine. I pour this over a 32 ounce cup filled with ice cubes, add 2 pkgs of Splenda, 2 ounces of creamer (I love the Vanilla Caramel) and 2 ounces of Half and Half. Stir and sip through a straw! I go through the drive-in window at Mickey D's a few times in the spring and get their large iced coffee. I keep and reuse the plastic containers and lids throughout the summer!
I you want something like a DD frozen coffee drink, (can't remember the name, off hand) use cold espresso, and the same amount of ice, sweetner and creamers. Pop it in a blender and blend until the ice is pulverized! Top with whipped cream and a drizzzle of carmel ice cream syrup and enjoy! ... View related article. |

| RE: Make Your Own Iced Coffee |
I either make a double shot of Espresso for my iced coffee or use leftover cooled coffee. When I use the Espresso, I pour it over ice into a large iced coffee cup from McDonalds. I add two packages of Splenda and fill the cup with skim milk, sugar free Coffee Mate, or half and half or a combination of two of them! It beats any of the Starbucks or Dunkin Doughnuts iced lattes, for price or taste! My SO who claimed he didn't like iced coffee asks for this, now! ... View related article. |
