The watering must be one of the reasons that trees grow so well in the Pacific Northwest. All we get is rain from September to December. :) ... View related article. |

| RE: Watch Price Tags For Sale Items |
I know that Costco marks their clearance stuff with a ._7 at the end of the price tag. I have also heard that an asterisk (*) is an item that is being discontinued.
I shop at Winco and they always mark their sale prices with green tags, makes it really easy to scan the aisles for the best deals. ... View related article. |

| RE: Eight Ways To Have A Greener Christmas |
If you are buying online, consider having the present shipped directly to the recipient. Gift wrap is usually available for free or a small charge and they will also usually include a personal message. This is great for extended family who you don't always get a chance to visit or for people you would need to ship to anyway.
Another idea is just to buy a gift certificate from an online retailer and have them send the message to the gift recipient. My Father in Law, who is in the Philippines, sends presents to his grandkids this way. It works great! They can go to Amazon.com and pick out what they like, usually after they have received their other gifts.

| RE: Substitutes for Egg in Meatloaf |
My mother and I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, about as far from West Virginia as you can get in the US. My mom taught me to put an egg in my meatloaf, it is one of the first "recipes" she taught me. I have never made it without :) Let us know how the mayo works out.
There are also some good ideas in the archived feedback. One calls for tomato paste, which might work as a binder. Good luck! ... View related article. |

| RE: What Do You Think of Facebook? |
I like getting the updates about my friends and family and what is going on in their lives. I don't do a lot of chatting online or games or surveys, it is more passive for me.
I have found some old friends across the country that I would never have hunted down if it weren't for Facebook. In general, I think it is a positive thing and the way of the future.

| RE: Remove Lines from Home VCR Tapes With Commercial Tapes |
It may be that a VRC head cleaner would do the same thing, without wear and tear on your commercial tape.
I used to work with VCR and camcorder tapes all the time in my previous job. Here are a couple of tips to keep your tapes running as long as possible.
First is to store them away from electronics (meaning NOT in your entertainment cabinet). The information on these tapes is magnetic and electronics have a magnetic field around them. I had it described to me as waves gently removing the information a little at a time. This is true with audiotapes as well, anything that is a black or brown shiny tape.
Second is to use a rewinder. The rewind feature is hard on a VCR but it is harder on the tape. This is when tapes break or become detached. You can fix this if you are careful, but it is better to prevent it in the first place. ... View related article. |

| RE: My Frugal Life: $20,000 Experiment in Happiness a Failure |
It is so hard to know when to invest in upgrading your house and when to let it be. I currently live in a 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house with my husband and TWO boys. They are still in grade school so have no regard for privacy. I long for a second bathroom and dream of ways to fit it into our existing floor plan.
We could do much of this work ourselves but will need to hire a plumber and an electrician for the hard parts. We don't want any fires or bad pipes! But, we don't have the money, even on our home equity, so the plans will just have to stay in my head for awhile longer. Maybe I will have some privacy when they graduate and move away :) ... | RE: How Can I Tell If Something is Made of Silver |
A good way to tell is to try using a magnet on it. If the magnet sticks, it is not pure silver. This is also a good tip for people traveling and planning on buying sliver jewelery from street vendors.
You might also take it to a local antique store and see what they can tell you about it. ... View related article. |
