RE: Caring for a Burning Bush Plant
They don't require a lot of care. An organic mulch is really all they need because the mulch will break down over the years and improve the soil. If they were doing poorly this year, an inch of compost around them will help feed them without stressing them. ... View related article.

RE: Making an Indoor Greenhouse
I would need to know exactly what you are growing to tell you what needs a resting period and what can grow straight through the winter. As was stated earlier, most perennials and trees need a period of dormancy to grow and thrive well. I never expect plants to look their best in the winter months. ... View related article.

RE: Putting Pictures on Lighted Glass Bocks
I absolutely love making these glass blocks. You can put an image on in several ways. You can paint right on the glass using glass paints or you can do what I did which was to print off a picture on a piece of label paper and put it on the glass. You can also print on regular paper and use a spray adhesive to apply it. I like to seal my pictures with a clear acrylic spray sealer. You can use glossy finishes or matte finishes which can make the glass blocks look frosted. I made a bunch for christmas gifts one year and had a holiday scene on one side and an every day scene on another. If you are giving them away and not selling them, you can use copies of pictures from greeting cards or magazines, just be careful about copyright issues if you start selling them. They also are great for family photos...the possibilities are endless. ... View related article.

RE: Gardening Allergy Advice
If it's just your eyes giving you the most problem, try an Allergy Eey Drop by Similisan. I use these when my eyes are just giving my a minor problem. When my serious allergies start up, I go for my prescription eye drops Patanol. Definately talk to your doctor and see an allergist if you can. You'll be glad you did. ... View related article.

RE: How To Care For Shasta Daisies
Hi Annette - Shasta daisies need very little fertilizer. I just add compost around my flower beds once every year or two and they love it. There is nothing much you can do once the leaves turn yellowish brown. Watering them was good, but hopefully that is all the damage the fertilizer did. May I ask what you used? Organic fertilizers will not "burn" your plants, so you may want to concider changing your fertilizer. ... View related article.

RE: Doors As Yard Art
Howdy Neighbor! I'm in Pennellville, NY.

Great idea! I love seeing recycled objects like this used in the yard and gardens. Hubby did a great job, and I bet it looks even better in the summer when the BES are blooming. ... View related article.

RE: Environmentally Safe Grub Control
I prefer to use Milky Spore for my grub control. This is primarily for the control of Japanese Beetle grubs and can be purchased in a good nursery or online. It should be applied in August although I have used it at other times. One application can last for many many years. For more immediate results and faster acting results, I use beneficial nematodes purchased from www.gardensalive.com. These will kill a wide variety of grubs. ... View related article.
