My wife and I share our home in central Indiana. Over the summer/fall of 2007, we remodeled our home, and included a huge new kitchen for ME! I planned the kitchen, including placement of all the cabinets, appliances and center island. In the center of this kitchen is a center island that is nine feet long and four feet wide. There is room for half a dozen people to prepare goodies, or for a dozen people to have a meal around the island.
I have always enjoyed cooking. I remember as a little boy down in East Texas helping my grandma with her Sunday meals. I watched my dad do his magic on the grill, and when he retired, he began to 'smoke' his own sausages, bacon, briskets, chickens, and anything else he felt like smoking.
My wife doesn't really like to cook. Except for Thanksgiving Dinner. Then she makes whatever we feel like eating. But on a regular weeknight, she sets the table, I cook the meals, and then we clean up together. We have been doing this for most of our 28 years of marriage.
Dinner is our main meal, and as we have grown older, we have also grown WIDER.. For the past year, we have tried to reduce portions and calories/fats, and slowly we are working on getting thinner together.
There might be some visual changes you can make when you cook hamburger meat. Put it on a grill, and they won't see the grease in the skillet.
Make hamburgers in different shapes. Square ones or oblong ones that will fit a hot dog bun. Meatballs can easily be made, and if you make them and add some grape jelly and Chili Sauce, they taste almost like a desert.
And, if you just want something 'good' that the kid will eat, make some macaroni and cheese for them. Inexpensive and good. ... View related article.
That silica is great stuff. It works well. Just make sure that the flowers you 'dry' are kept out of moist areas of the house. Moisture can cause them to become moldy. ... View related article.
Set a mouse trap. I sometimes get moles in my garage, and I have caught them with a mouse trap baited with bacon. I put them directly against the wall, and within a day or two, I have the little beast caught. ... View related article.
We have a similar color situation, and just finished remodeling our kitchen/living area. The contractor suggested that we go with a Burnt White color. We have a kiwi green granite top, red oak hardwood flooring, and a buttercream color of paint on the walls. The burnt white looks awesome. ... View related article.
Kaelle brings up a lot of important points. You must handle meats properly before you freeze them.
Invest in a vacuum sealer, and your meats will be fine for a year. While it may cost a little more to use a vacuum sealer, its cheaper than throwing out things that you forgot in the freezer. Also mark everything you 'seal' with the date you put it in there, so you know which packages to use first. ... View related article.
I keep a small binder clip in the bathroom for toothpaste. I also use the medium binder clips to close chip bags. They actually CLOSE The bag, and are much cheaper than the store bought "Chip Clip" plastic things. ... View related article.
This sounds GOOD (especially when I know it is 19º outside right now). I make a similar dish, and add about a cup of chopped onion to the ground beef while it is browning. ... View related article.
You should not mix oil/latex primers or paint. The best advice I can give you is to go to your local paint store or hardware store.. They can answer all of your questions. ... View related article.
Go online to Sherwin Williams, and look up the color of Ivorie (yes, that is the correct spelling). Our contractor suggested a darker 'tan,' but my wife found that color, and painted our kitchen/grandroom Ivorie, and it is beautiful. Everything goes with it. If I could describe the color, I would say that it is like a golden butter pecan ice cream. And, it makes you hungry to be in the kitchen. lol. ... View related article.
