Profile For Hate Litter -

I have a passion for picking up litter. I enjoy promoting litter prevention and encouraging citizens to take pride in their community and keep it litter free.

I'll never forget the day in 1987 when I first noticed litter. It was a real eye opener, an ugly sight. I felt the urge to clean it up and have been picking up litter ever since.

Later on, I was inspired by an article I read written by a lady that picked up litter while getting her walking exercise. “Hmmm”, I thought to myself, “I can do that.” So I started walking and keeping our neighborhood clean by picking up the litter while getting my walking exercise.

Keeping our neighborhood tidy actually motivates me to get out and walk and being retired, it gives me something to do that makes a difference.

RE: Solutions for Dry Hands
For Christmas, years ago, I received a Remington Paraffin Wax Heat Treatment System. When my hands get dry, I pull out the wax machine and use it for several days especially during the winter months. If it ever stops working, I'll be purchasing another one. ... View related article.

RE: Make Your Own Bag Holder
We have pine trees in our yard and picking up the pine cones is so easy with the use of this bag holder. With my reach extender and bag on the bag holder, I can fill a big trash bag with pine cones in just a few minutes. I take them down in the woods and empty the bag and keep it on the holder until the next time I have to pick up pine cones.

This bag holder is so easy to make and so useful. ... View related article.

RE: Wash and Freeze Your Apple Harvest
Last fall, I prepared apples for pies and froze several packages. When I wanted to make an apple pie, all I had left to do was prepare the crust. I used my last pack this weekend and the pie was delicious. We plan to go to the mountains soon and get some more apples and I'll be putting apple pie mix in the freezer to enjoy for the next 12 months. ... View related article.

RE: Organizing Debit Card Receipts
I posted this tip a while back and was advised that it could be dangerous so I had it deleted. I am showing it again as I have actually seen these used in a restaurant within a foot of the public. I can see how it could be dangerous though especially if you have children in the home. So, if you make this, please put it in an out of the way place so no one can fall on it.

Take a piece of wood and drive a thin nail through the center. Each time you use your card, put the receipt on the nail. It works great for us in keeping up with our receipts and they are in date order making it easy to check with the bank statement.

After balancing my statement, I staple them together and put them in a drawer. I probably don't need to keep holding on to them but it's just easy to do.
