RE: Use Baby Wipes For Spot Freshening
I like this tip, I also have used babywipes for personal cleansing. The only trouble is baby wipes are often not flushable, and can cause major problems with plumbing if flushed. Throwing them in the trash is not an aceptable alternative for me. ... View related article.

RE: Shoeing a Horse
This post brings back memorys of being my Dad's helper. He is an old style "Horse shoe-er." Often it is because some horse's simply don't like it. And the use of twitch or a nerve line (a small clothes line rope over the ears under the lip) maybe mandatory. Dad is now 77 and can shoe 3 of 4 of his own horses. The fourth is just a little to stubborn for him to handle at his age. All of the horses have had their feet played with all their lives. The little mare will always be a pain to shoe, although she has improved with time and the use of 'distractions'

Now the age of your horse; how long you have had it and what may have been done in the past may be what your problem is. The twitches do have to be used right bullying a horse won't work it makes them dig in and fight all the more. But I assume you have done all of this.

Ask your vet about a farrier that has the knowledge to use a tranquilizer. This will turn the whole thing into a"happy day" for the horse. It may also prevent injuries to both your horse and the people working with it. Check with State law about who and how medications can be given. ... View related article.

RE: Getting Rid of Head Lice
The "zapper" comb eluded to in an another post is called a Robi Comb and it works! It cost my about $20.00 at a walgrens drug store. it can also be found online. It was a life saver when my daughter was in grade school. A one time investment, no chemicals, less crying, get one of these, you will never regret it. ... View related article.

RE: Cleaning Chef Coats
Those are the worst stains in the world. Not only food but from the metal equipment my hubby is constantly cleaning. 3 things that have helped.
#1 dishsoap (like dawn) to pretreat with.

#2 A product called White Brite, found in the paint supply area will help with the yellowing. (this stuff has some fumes involved)
This works for a poly cotton blend

#3 Spray hydrogen peroxide all over the damp/washed coat and leave it out in the sun to dry. Don't look at it until it is dry because it goes very yellow before it goes white. (test on a spot first)
A warning! combining tips #2 & #3 not only produces fumes but HEAT. I do not recommend this.
Hope these help, but in the end finding chef coats on sale on line can be the best bet.

P.S We even tried to dye the old coats black and it was kind of cool. He looked a little like a confederate, maybe we'll go with blue for the union next time. LOL ... View related article.

RE: Reusing Pickle Juice
Use pickle juice as the acid in a marinade for meat. Pickle juice, garlic, pepper, mustard mix to a thin paste, brush on meat. Leave for an hour up to overnight Cook as you like BBQ, or broil. Works well for tougher cuts or wild meat. Sweet pickle juice will make a sweet flavor and works well on chicken ... View related article.

RE: Washed Jerseys Have Lost Their Elasticity
Try rinsing them in hair conditioner, place the clothes in the washer on the rinse cycle only, add in the water, put in 1/4 to 1/2 cup (about 50 ml) of any kind of conditioner, run the rinse cycle. The fibers should regain most of their fluff and elasticity. ... View related article.
