RE: Cheese Tortellini Salad
Hi! I just copied and pasted this recipe. It really sounded good. I had just recently purchased a bag of tri-color cheese tortellini, so I went and checked to see the wt. of it. It was only 8.8 ozs. Wow, this salad must make alot if I need almost 56 more ozs. Maybe I can find it in a larger quantity bag. I can't wait to try it, though. Thanks for submitting! ... View related article.

RE: Dry Ranch Dressing Recipe
I posted this recipe previously on this site. This came out of a secret recipes cookbook. I don't buy the commercial mix anymore, I even like this one better! 1/2 t. dried parsley flakes, 1/4 t. ground black pepper, 1/4 t. msg (optional), 1/4 t. salt, 1/8 t. garlic powder, 1/8 t. onion powder, pinch dried thyme. Mix dried ingredients together. Add 1/2 cup mayonnaise & 1/2 cup buttermilk. Refrigerate. Tastes better the longer it sets. ... View related article.

RE: Freezing Chips
Are you talking about potato and corn chips? If so, I just place the whole bag in the freezer, as is. When chips go on sale I buy extra bags & place them in the freezer & they stay fresh longer. Also, I don't have the extra space to store them elsewhere. Hope this is what you were asking! ... View related article.

RE: Poll: Do you have a problem with fruits and vegetables going bad before you use them?
Yes, sometimes. I have learned a few tricks over the years, though, of prolonging their life. For instance, tomatoes will stay fresher longer if, when you bring them home, you will place them in a zip-lock bag before refrigerating them. Apples will stay fresh for a very long time if you refrigerate them. Also, when cutting an onion, if you will not need all of it, cut a slice from the top & leave the root in tact. Then wrap the remainder tightly with plastic wrap before refrigerating. The onion will stay fresh & will not dry out before your next use, plus using plastic wrap instead of foil will allow you to see what's inside so you will not forget about it & go cut another one. Cuts down on waste. ... View related article.

RE: Freezing Imitation Crabmeat
I see others have already responded, but I was going to relay that it sure can be frozen. I buy it also @ Wal-Mart in the air tight package. It keeps for a long time refrigerated, but if I don't think I'll be needing it in the next week or so, I will freeze it. Here's a great crab salad recipe I use. Imitation crab meat, chopped in the food processor, choppped green onion, and mayonnaise. That's all & it's so delicious. Tastes better even after it's been refrigerated a few days. We spread it on crackers. ... View related article.
