RE: Recipe for "Sugar Free" Sweetened Condensed Milk
I have not tried this. This is from aimeesadventures.com.
Sugar Free Sweetened Condensed Milk
Yield:14 ounces
1 1/2 Cups Pourable Splenda sweetener 1 1/2 Cups skim dry milk 6 Tablespoons nonfat margarine 6 Tablespoons Water
Place all ingredients into a medium mixing bowl. Blend with a hand blender on lowest speed until moist, and then on high speed until smooth. Be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as you go so none of the dry ingredients get left behind.

RE: Using Wine Bottles in Landscaping as a Border
I saw a pic of that on this site a while back. I tried to search for it but couldn't find it. It must have been feedback instead of a new topic. They weren't cut off that I recall. They were simply buried upside down, lined up side by side in a row so that the bottoms were all level. It looked pretty neat. You might have more patience searching here than I did.

You could also try a rug with both colors to pull them together.

RE: Baking in a Small Oven
|
If you have 2 oven racks, you could use an 8x8 plus one loafpan. These 2 pans nest right inside a 9x13 so this is pretty close. Maybe you could check with a restaurant wholesaler about finding deeper 12 inch pans. I have one in my area that sells to the regular public. Tracey in Jacksonville FL ... View related article. |

RE: Dog Chews When Left Alone
Walking does help some. We were already walking our rattie half an hour a day when he shredded our carpet. I was walking Dog Whisperer style, fast paced with no stops. It didn't so much help with his chewing but he did have better behavior in other areas. My Dunkin is just neurotic with the separation anxiety. No amount of toys or treats would help. Crating protects him from himself too. There is no telling how much stuff he would ingest on the loose unsupervised and our house is pretty much doggie proof. They get sneaky and creative when they have 8 hours to kill.

RE: Dog Chews When Left Alone
Yep, you need to crate. We thought we could shut my rattie in one room during the day to cut down on the chewing. We came home to shredded carpet. The vet recommended wood floors and crating. I had never crated before and so I thought it seemed cruel at first. We gave it a shot because we were desperate. Turns out Dunkin loves his crate. He goes in on his own when he thinks I'm heading out.

RE: Getting Coupons for Free
Do you have a neighbor or family member that gets the Sunday paper? My mom used to give me what was left of her coupons after she did her clipping. She would only clip what she knew she would use so there was always plenty left.

RE: Getting Rid of Wood Bees
There is good info here on thrifty fun about these bees and how to get rid of them. They are carpenter bees, sometimes called borer bees. My neighbor had them boring into the eaves of her house. They fixed the eaves but the bees came back. Then I saw a woodpecker going at the same places. Turns out when the babies hatch they make so much noise they attract woodpeckers. They definitely come back to the same spot every year. We had a wooden patio cover that they would bore into. We removed that last year and the bees are continuously coming around looking for the patio cover. Search for info on this site because it could get expensive if you don't get them under control.

RE: Using Every Bit Of Laundry Detergent
So true! I buy my detergent in the huge containers where you push the button for the liquid to come out. They have an opening on the top end for air release. When mine gets 'empty' I remove the air release lid and turn it upside down to drain overnight into a large measuring cup. Yep, you just about get enough for one more load.
