I too had considered turning the hot water heater off/on at the breaker/fuse box. Typically, I am away from home 10 to 12 hours during the day; no need for hot water during that time or at night while sleeping. I have a co-worker who is long-time e-Bay seller. I shred all my 'junk mail' for him as he is able to use it for cushioning in the packages he mails out to e-Bay buyers! Recycling lives!!!
