| RE: Dividing Up Your Ground Beef |
I wss wondering do you add any seasonings at that time? I do the same but find I cook the ground beef with my usual onions and spices since it seems after the meat has been cooked the spices don't work in as well as they do when simmering in during the original cooking. This sure does make life easier especially when you can drain off excess fat before freezing. My husband can even get a package out to create things like Sloppy Joe's on his own while I'm away. ... | RE: New Ideas for Meatloaf |
I had an old friend come for dinner who loves meatloaf. To make it a bit different I make the regular mixture adding about half cup of salsa. Then roll it out on some waxed paper. Then I place thin slices of black forest ham and mozzarella cheese on top of the meat. Roll it up like you would a jelly roll, the waxed paper makes it easier. Make sure to seal the ends and place the meatloaf with the seam down. You can put some ketchup, BBQ sauce, or any of your choice. When you slice the meatloaf it has a great look and tastes divine! ... View related article. |

| RE: Wildlife: Royal Terns (Florida) |
These birds are not only beautiful, they are so fascinating to watch. We have a condo at Marco Island, FL. where it looks out to the ocean. Since we go back and forth to our unit many times a year the Terns get to be seen in their different states. Our last visit was the month of May, it was such a treat to watch the groups of Terns on the beach, make their nest, protect them, sleep on the warm sun. All such a treat. I've attached one of my favourite of these birds. They actually look "dead" laying right down on the sand during the late afternoon. ... View related article. |

| RE: Ways to Freeze Cabbage |
I always freeze 3 or 4 cabbages each fall when they are at their largest for cabbage rolls. All I do is put one whole cabbage in a set of double grocery bags, then toss into freezer. This is the greatest way to have cabbage for making cabbage rolls during the colder wearther. The cabbage leaves peel off without boiling first, no messy boiling to soften the cabbage. The snaller leaves I chop up to use later in soups or stews. Good Luck! ... View related article. |

| RE: Shipping a Pie |

Check your bus service from where you live to your sister's home town. That is how I send items to friends who moved away. I know your baking is what your sister craves, however, as a volunteer our cancer group have been contact by family members living distances away for help. If you think your recipe could be "semi copied" by a member of the cancer group in your sister's town you may try that also. ... View related article. |

| RE: Toning Down A Bad Dye Job |
My daughter use to end up with "weird" colours when younger. We found the best way to correct the colour until a good amount of time went by before using chemical colours again, she would use a Henna coloiur product from the health food store. It is natural, nothing harsh to continue damaging your hair. Many places carry Henna colour now since it can be used by pregnant women also. ... View related article. |

| RE: Using Every Bit of Laundry Detergent |
It is so true how much of so many products are left in a container. At first I would take the spout out or leave it inverted. Then I found the easiest way to get every last drop from a laundry bottle is to fill it up with my laundry tub tap. The first filling I use warm water. However, if you use hot water to fill the container it will not only get all the soap out, but if you squeeze the softened bottle, then quickly put the top back on, it will work as a type of "vacuum" flattening the bottle so it takes less room in the recycle bin. I do the same for my softener bottles and many types of other empty plastic bottles. You'd be surprised how "flat they become. ... View related article. |

| RE: Refilling Glade Plug-ins |
I thought about the liquid potpourri, however, it is obvious the commercial refills for Glade products etc are made with an oil base and the liquid potpourri is a water base. I've tried it already finding the liquid evaporates with the heat but does not put any smell out of the plug ins. Back to the drawing board! ... View related article. |

| RE: Use Soda Can Box to Organize Bags |
Another great idea for storing the plastic bags if you still get the from the stores. In my mind they are a "pain". The way I handle them is to cut the opening a bit larger, fold the bags so they fit into an empty kleenex box. You can get approximately 30 plastic bags in a normal kleenex box! At our house we have some outside buildings like garages, storage sheds, etc. It is in there I put a box of bags for my hubby instead of a trash can. Much easier than collecting up something messy in a trash can. I also leave a box of bags in each of our spare rooms. Just put in a dresser drawer or bathroom cabinet for the use of your guests, could be for a few pieces of dirty laundry, something wet to take home or for anyone with children still in diapers and using disposables when travelling. Kleenex boxes are so decorative you really don't need to cover them. In my area the corn/veggie vender at the farmers market is also very pleased to receive my boxes of bags! ...
