RE: Canada Day Is July 1st
Canada Day is the celebration of the union of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario into what was the begining of Canada. Canada is still part of the British Commonwealth, along with New Zealand, Australia, etc. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982 gave us our "independence". Please brush up on your history! ... RE: Getting Out of Debt
The snowball repayment is a very good way to pay off debt, but you have to have the will and focus to do it. Pay cash, no debit or credit cards. Also, don't spend the loose change, save it up, roll it up, cash it in & apply this down on your debts as well.
NO CREDIT CARDS!!! CASH ONLY!!! ... View related article.

RE: Ideas For Making Inukshuks
That is very thoughtful of you to want to do this for your Canuk in-laws.
Inukshiks have "migrated" to the south of Canada and are quite common all the hi-ways & bi-ways, but always a nice treat to see.
Not to be given away, only to mark the way...
Since you're in CA, why not make one from something unique to where you are now living.
Just a Canuk who been North & please to see the Inuit culture coming to all of us.

RE: Food Ideas
hsorbits has a great idea...breakfasts meals, although some may not feel like eating.
Also, remember the loss may feel greater once everyone is gone. I know I sure felt this way. Perhaps 10 days or so after the funeral & distant relatives/friends and visitors have left, bring a meal or several items that can become a few meals to them. ... View related article.

RE: Type 2 Diabetes Meal Plans
Hello Juanita from Mississippi!

I'm sorry to read about your recent health challenge and yes it is hard at first to know what to do, but you should be able after awhile to know how to eat "healthier" and be able to use the normal recipes your used to. "Moderation being the key". Okay - my mom's recipes she left me where from the 30's & 40's (T. of lard, enough flour to blend, etc.). They tasted great - but now...Ha! But you can adjust them after some practice.
The secret is to learn is about carbohydrates in the food you eat to the energy you do. "Sugar" is in all carbohydrates.
Yes, it's about diet - but you can have sugar, (meaning "sweets") as long as you count it in to what you are actively doing during the day/night.
I'm a Type 1 diabetic (insulin) since I was in my mid 30's up here in Canada & am now over the 50+ birthday mark...
Start looking at the products you buy in the grocery store & what a portion of food gives you for a carb usage. Try & start to use more whole grains, raw fruit and lots of veggies which are very filling. When you go to a grocery store, just shop from the outside aisles - processed food is usually found in the "up/down travelling" aisles which have a much higher carb. count. They maybe easier to shop for and use but aren't really that great nutrient wise.
Learn what % or count of carbs mean to energy use, get a referral to a dietician from your doctor.
I understand...this can be quite upsetting at first; but you will survive & hopefully start feeling better by eating better.
I really know - WHAT A PAIN THIS CAN BE and would never wish this disease on my worst enemy!
If you want - keep in touch!
Best wishes!
:-)

RE: My Dog Is Overweight
My sweetie is too! I've been able to see a visible difference since going to a "better" dry food instead of the easy canned dog food. Her vet is also happy to see the difference although less $$ for him! Ha!
We use Iams, she eats less, more active and her coat is very shiney and visable weight loss as well & at 13+ years, very impressive! She still "expects" treats - that was one of the problems to being with, she trained us very well! ... View related article.

RE: Black Leather Sofa and Dark Oak Flooring
Shades of red will "jump"
Shades of light green will "warm" (mind you there r very many "lites" of green & you have to find the one that compliments the shade of black you have.
Refer to a circular colour chart first b4 deciding on a shade of opposite colour. ... View related article.

RE: How do I clean my deep fryer?
Throw it out Heather, what in gwad's name do you need a deep fryer for????
If you "need" to "fry" food, try a bit of oil in a frying pan...do hope you realize how unhealthy that type of food preparation is...
We Canuks have enough health problems without clogging up more arteries and hospital beds because of unhealthy food cooking choices. ... View related article.

RE: Giving a Dog Medication
I take a piece of cheddar cheese, cut into several small pieces (or any treat Bear might like). Bury the pill into one piece, show the treat give one then quickly the medi one and then finally a third piece. Hopefully the medi one will be downed very quickly in order to get the 3rd or 4th piece of treat... ... View related article.
