Profile For hearts1 - Debby - The hearts lady

Besides cooking and eating I am an avid collector of hearts  - any shape, size, material, colors, no matter what, if it looks like a heart or has a heart on it, I want it.  I have an entire alcove in my hall that has been filled with heart-shaped items; from a heart-shaped milking stool, a sculpture with a heart, a heart-shaped clock, many photos as well as art prints of all different kinds of hearts and everywhere you look in my house, you can't not see all my hearts.

I guess I'm still a "Hippie" at heart.

Any donations or sale items that would fit my collection will be more than welcomed.

I'm a great cook, although have only been delving into gourmet meals for the past 2 years.  I live alone with my Golden Retriever, Lilli, who is 18 months old.  Most of the cooking I do is for myself.  I like to cook for anyone, but unfortunately I don't have many friends.  I'm kind of a loner.

Oh, I didn't mention one thing:  I love James Taylor and have been a devoted fan since 1967.  At the top of my wish list in this life is to meet him, face to face and be able to sit and talk with him.  I'm far from a "groupie", It's just more than words when it comes to what his music does to and for me.

Once again, any Heart donations, please email me @ hearts1@cox.net

Thanks for reading about me!

RE: Pumpkins for Outdoor Vase
This is a wonderful idea, but what do you do when the pumpkin begins to rot? Is there any way you can paint the pumpkin inside and out with a clear lacquer to slow down the decaying process?

I really like this idea and since I live alone, I never buy pumpkins. I have no children, so usually I just leave a huge bowl (sometimes a bucket) of candy for the kids that come to my door. I have a dog who loves to bark at anyone coming on to my property, so I just disconnect the doorbell and keep Lilli in the bedroom with me. The bowl is left for the kids to use up, but a little decoration would be nice! Thank you in advance! Hearts1 & Lilli ... View related article.

RE: Recycling Items for Drainage Fill in Plant Containers
You must get a lot of flowers to have enough for every time you transplant! I use rocks at the bottom of my pots. I too have succulents on a big table in my enclosed patio that have to be rotated too. Can you buy those plastic trays? ... View related article.

RE: Satisfy Sweet Cravings With Dried Fruit
I have a problem with craving sweets, almost immediately after I eat dinner. I'm 100 lbs, so a gain in weight is not a problem for me. I do know that you are not supposed to eat any sugar for at least an hour after eating protein, but the cravings are very strong. From what I understand, fruit or sugar after a meal of protein and carbs makes different enzymes in the stomach which actually cancel out the enzymes that we produce to digest the proteins and carbs. What is one to do? ... View related article.

RE: Minced Garlic vs. Fresh
Firstly, I don't trust Walmart when it comes to FOOD!
Here in San Diego the Walmarts are not allowed to sell food - they have a few boxed, frozen, canned goods, but nothing fresh. I believe garlic should be used fresh, and that laziness is the reason anyone would want to buy it in a jar or can!

RE: Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes
This recipe sounds great! My Mom (if she had the patience to skin the tomatoes) could use this recipe when she prepares snacks for people that go to her house to play cards. She's pretty lazy, but I could help her.
Thanks for posting this!

RE: Cleaning Carpet Stains
There is a product you can purchase at any Petsmart or Petco called "Simple Solution". It's the greatest stuff I've ever used. My husband and I used to have 4 Golden Retrievers (who love to play in the water and mud) and our carpet is a light gray. Just pour the solution on the stain, put a clean towel on it and stand on it for about 2 min. When you lift up the towel all the dirt will be on the towel, and you can scrub in any remaining wet area and the stain will be gone completely. It's been a carpet saver for me for over 18 years! And now I have a 2-year old Puppy! ... View related article.

RE: Bags that Comforters, Drapes and Tablecloths Come In
If you don't want those old Nascar cars, I'll take one of the #3 car. How much do you want for one?

Please respond!

RE: 20 Farm Cats with Fleas
I would suggest an exterminator that uses Nematodes, and sprays it anywhere outside, and at your windows and doorways (outside). The cats can be present, as it is absolutely not harmful to mammals of any kind. The best scenario would be to have the exterminator come either during the rain, or after, as moisture just makes the nematodes more effective immediately. If you cannot arrange that, perhaps you could lightly water any area they have put the nematodes down. I live in San Diego, CA and have little rain. My puppy stays outside when they are spraying, and since my back yard is sparse on grass, I can't water it, or she will play in the damp earth and create a muddy mess. The exterminator company charges me $38/month for their services (including spraying on my back porch for ants) and are full service for any other need you may have, like termites. The name of the company is Stock Exterminators and they may be able to give you a reference to a reliable company where you live. The phone # 1800-339-1679. I hope things work out for you! RE: Get Firewood Now, Don't Wait for Winter
I know, by experience, that when you buy wood in quantity there are usually mice, rats or bugs nesting in there that you don't want near your home. So I would think twice about purchasing wet wood (also termites).

Just my experience you should think about!
