| RE: What is This Song? |
The line about the sailor boy isn't in it, but several groups such as the Mamas and the Papas and the Monkees did versions of Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod during the 70's. Here is a link with Carly Simon/The Simon Sisters' version:

| RE: Using Leftover Soap Pieces |
|
I bought a shower body scrubbing glove at a dollar store and simply drop the shards of soap into it and close the top with a rubber band (no sewing and you can add new pieces easily!). It lathers up nicely and I just wad it up and use it as a scrubby sponge - but I suppose you could just leave the top open and stick your hand in with the soap and use it as usual. Good luck. ... | RE: Making Crackle Glass for Crafts |
Breaking bottles will leave sharp edges. Instead, you can try calling places that do auto glass replacement and see if it is possible for you to get glass from chipped car windows.
Car window glass is safety glass that shatters into small fairly uniform cubes that might be what you are looking for. I use it in lots of crafts. It's also nice in the bottom of clear vases with cut flowers.
My local car window replacement place is very friendly but you may consider stopping in person at one or more in your area since a personal appeal is often more effective when asking for a favor. Good luck. ... View related article. |

| RE: Inexpensive or Free Building Materials |
Start with the Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. website http://swix.ws or some of the links on their site. I frequent a sister site in Minnesota and have found it useful for projects such as yours. I think this is just what you are looking for as it deals with larger quantities of materials and supplies than I usually see listed on Freecycle or Cheapcycle. Good luck. ... View related article. |

| RE: Caring for a Sick Kitten |
If your kitty needs medicine, call or ask around for a pharmacist who can flavor the medicine. My kitty, Tahlula, was sick and terribly underweight as a kitten and simply wouldn't eat and kept throwing up any medicine given (I was worried she would die).
However, I happened to mention that she wouldn't eat to the pharmacist and he absolutely saved me when he said he could flavor the medicine ( I can't remember - perhaps fish, or chicken or something). This worked like a charm and saved Tahlula's life. Please call around an see if some pharmacist or pet pharmacist might be able to do this for you.
Also, definitely try giving your kitten wet cat food as this has much more enticing smells for cats -- they may have soft stools but it is better than nothing to get them eating.
Once he/she is eating, I would switch to dry food as it is much more economical - yet, you can still treat your kitty to wet food. I give my kitties wet food once a weekend as a treat (they are always very excited). I add it to a little bit of dry food so the kittys won't gobble it too fast and throw up, or, get diarrhea from an abrupt switch in the consistency of the food. Good luck ... View related article. |
