Profile For ILuvDobes - Rescue Pets are the Greatest

I am passionate about properly caring for companion pets and wildlife.

All of my pets have been from rescue, and if you cannot afford a few thousand dollars for their care, please do not adopt. "Home remedies" are not good when it comes to the welfare and well being of a beloved pet.  If you cannot afford a Vet, do not take one into your home, and do not force them to live outdoors.

Neutering/spaying is a must unless you are a TOP breeder.

RE: Winter Warmth Tips
With my new heating system, my house is pretty warm on cold days but I still cover my dogs with warm blankets. Using an electric blanket won't work for me as my two large dogs "make their beds" and I would be afraid their nails would go through to the wires when they "fluff" up the quilts, etc.

I also open the oven door after taking out the dish to further heat the kitchen. I let pasta water cool on the cooktop to put warm moisture in the air. Thanks Cricketnc! Jennifer, Northern Virginia ... View related article.

I don't understand the design flaw in the first one either. I make it easy for my squirrels to get their food. Jennifer ... View related article.

RE: Rulers Keep Mice and Roaches out of Cupboards
Bounce never worked for me but steel wool did, you can block where they enter the house (I found the area at the basement door frame). By the way, after paying a professional exterminator company hundreds of dollars over a few years, I did the steel wool on my own, fired the exterminators and now my home is mouse free.

RE: Homemade Parvo Treatment
There is no homemade treatment, get your dog to the Vet ASAP. Parvo can be fatal. Jennifer Northern Virginia ... View related article.

RE: Treating Cat with Ear Mites
I would never "self-treat" this. Go to your Vet, they will do a swab and give you the correct medicine.
