For years I have stored flour, cake mixes, rice, oats, etc in my big freezer. No insects! I've lived miles from any grocery store all of my 79 years so I try to keep staples on hand to be ready for feeding visitors, grandkids, etc whenever they pop in. RE: Freezing Battered Okra
Wash and drain okra well. Slice, coat with flour or cornmeal, spread on cookie sheet. Freeze then put in zip-lock bags. If you want to use to saute with onion and tomato, skip the meal before freezing. To freeze the small pods, put them on the cookie sheet, freeze and bag. RE: Caring For A Christmas Cactus
I left the cactus outside all summer on a patio that received morning sunshine. I brought it in in late October before frost and placed it in a West window with partial shade.
