RE: Tackle Box Cake
Now, THAT is creativity! Kudoos to the Creator (and to the cake maker also :) ... View related article.

RE: Cheap Quilting Materials
Anyone who sews has lots and lots of fabric stuck back and probably would be glad to clean their closets out. Begin with area churches and ask them to spread the word about what you're doing. ... View related article.

RE: Too Much Sugar in Turnip Greens
Was afraid to add vinegar so went with the "add more water" route. It worked! I drained them, added more water and boiled the fool out of them for about 5 min, then drained again. Thank you so much. I had too much cooked to just throw away. ... View related article.

RE: Odors in a Picnic Cooler
Wash with warm water and soap. Leave open to the sun. A day of sun should do it but leave longer if need to. My husband put fish in ours and it worked on that. ... View related article.

RE: Chocolate Stains
I keep a bar of Ivory soap handy and wash out chocolate, blood, red wine stains easily. Use cold water, never hot. Hot will set the stain. You have to use Ivory bar soap, seems like other soaps just set the stain. ... View related article.

RE: Coffee is Making Me Sick
My 90-year-old aunt told me to add a little dried, ground chicory in my coffee grounds (before brewing). It worked for me. Contrary to popular belief, chicory does not make coffee stronger but it does make brewed coffee a little darker. ... View related article.

RE: Taking Apart a TV
Thank you, lbrady, for including "capacitor" in your answer. I was able to google good instructions for my husband, and he was able to talk halfway intelligently to an electrician. He has made a lot of progress on that old TV, and it looks good! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my request. ... View related article.

RE: Body Oil Stains on Linens
My husband has oily skin also. The only thing that has helped (and it certainly isn't much) is to convince him to clean his neck each night with cotton balls soaked in astringent. It's sold for teenage acne. That has saved his new pillow but not much help with yellow-cast sheets. Will follow your posting for solution(s). ... View related article.

RE: Refinishing a Wood Hope Chest
Thank all of you for your replies. I'm afraid I've bitten off more than I can chew with that veneer stuff.Went to the suggested web site and, hmm, I don't know, it seems awfully complicated. I am beginning to think I don't actually know what "veneer" is. We have a craft store (Hobby Lobby) that has pieces of thin (maybe 1/16th inch?) wood (one was labeled "Birch"). Is that veneer? Couldn't I just glue that on (w/wood glue) and cover the places where the wood joins with a glued-on strip? ... View related article.
