| RE: Low Suds Dishwashing Detergent |
|
Do not use laundry detergent in your dishwasher. Any labeled dishwashing detergent is low sudsing, whether liquid or dry. A well-known dishwashing product is Cascade. The Dollar General brand is also good. I have not used the liquids, but my son uses one and is well pleased with it. Also, when filling the little cups, only use 1 tablespoon (about half the despenser full) in each cup. Remember the usage suggestion given on the box is put there by the people who want to sell the product. ... View related article. |

| RE: Rust Stain on Linoleum Floor |
|
Try 'Whink' (in a brown bottle at Wal-Mart/most grocery stores, in the section with cleansers, i.e. Comet). Try it on a small area to check for damage to linoleum before using on the large area. I have not found anything it will not take rust from, even clothing. Can just see it disapear as applied. Mop your floor as usual after the rust has gone. ... View related article. |

| RE: Using a Glove on Either Your Right or Left Hand |
|
If you are fortunate enough to have a friend/neighbor/relative that is opposite-handed to you then it is good to work out a swap method. I am left handed and my neighbor is right handed. When we buy new gloves we swap the off-handed one and it works out to give an extra pair of gloves. ... View related article. |

| RE: Tiny Sugar Ants |
|
Sprinkle dry baking soda liberally on your rug. Leave for a few hours and vacuum really well. You may need to repeat this a couple of times, but it should get rid of your ants, and you will have a good fresh smelling carpet to boot. They take it back to the nest and all there eat it and cannot digest it. If this does not completely eliminate them from your carpet then sprinkle with 20 mule team borax, same procedure as soda. Between the 2 you are sure to get rid of them. ... View related article. |

| RE: Retaining Natural Color in Frozen Apples |
When I peel my apples I place them in water that has had a small amount of white vinegar,(I never measure it), probably 1 tablespoon per quart of water, or if I have no vinegar then about 1 teaspoon salt per quart of water. When I have all my apples peeled I drain them in a colander and bag them for the freezer.
This amount of vinegar is not enough to affect the taste in the apples. If using salt then I mark on packages of apples and adjust the amount of salt in my recipe when I get ready to use them. The other thing I might do if not preparing a great number of apples at one time is to freeze them on a pan individually and when frozen (a couple of hours-not longer than 24 hours) I then bag them so that I may take out and use only the amount I need, replacing the rest in the freezer for later use. ... | RE: Shelf Life of Sour Cream |
|
In addition to the other suggestions: If it has been opened, be sure to replace the clear covering over it and turn it upside down in the fridge. If afraid of leakage then put it on a saucer or an extra plastic lid a size larger than top of sour cream container (rim upturned). I have never had it go bad using this method. ... | RE: Low-Fat Vanilla Ice Cream |
You can use Cali's Moms recipe and substitute canned milk for the whipping cream. Just use it straight from the can. If you are making in the freezer of your fridge, be sure to take it out when it has started to freeze around the edges (anytime before it freezes solid) and beat it up good with a fork. or you can use an electric mixer. It will make a more creamy finished product. Hope this will be a help. ... View related article. |
