RE: Raising a Chi-pin (Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher
What a great picture! She looks almost identical to my Chi-Pin Fiesta. Fiesta is in the larger 11-13lb range, but then again she's a mooch for table food and loves to drink iced tea! Really, I'd say probably she'll be in the 8-11 lb range, depending on how large her parents were ... View related article.

RE: Motor Oil Stain on Upholstery
I use Tuff Stuff carpet /upholstery cleaner. You can find it at most automotive parts stores. Carbuerator cleaner works good too, but not sure if it would harm your fabric ... View related article.

RE: Dog Pees in Crate
I didn't see mention of the dogs age, if he's fairly young, you need to step up potty training. Make sure he goes before going to his crate. If he's into his crate early, say before 10-11pm, you may have to give him a potty break during the night. If my dog wakes up when I got to the bathroom in the middle of the night, then i know she needs to go again. Getting up a bit earlier may help too ... View related article.

RE: Substitute for Canned Cream Soup
I make a quickie version of cream soups if I need a can for making a recipe. I use about 1/4 c. water with a bouillon cube, 1 cup milk, garlic salt or powder (dash), salt & pepper to taste, and about 2 tbs of cornstarch(dissolve in a slight amount of hot water. Bring to a low boil until it's thick, stirring constantly. Works well in most recipes. ... View related article.

RE: Repairing Kenmore Washing Machine
You probably don't need to get into the motor. It is probably your agitater dawgs. These are little rubber comma shaped grippers that make the agitater move. They are located under the center cap on the middle cylinder piece that moves the clothes. They are rather small and have grooves on them that catch and turn. They may have worn grooves on them. They only cost about $15 at an appliance parts store, and come in a pack of the total amount of them you need. I can't remember exactly how many of them there are, seems like it's about 6 or 8. There is a screw that you have to take out to get to the section of the cylinder they are in, and we had to use a long screwdriver to get it out. ... View related article.

RE: Homemade Cleaner for Pet Urine Odors
This works well for me. Blot up as much of the wet stain as you can. Then mix 3/4 parts Gain or Tide liquid detergent to 1/4 part water in a bowl. Pour over stain & lightly scrub in. Let dry completely (you may need to place a fan to help dry faster. You almost have to let it soak down to the carpet padding, or you'll never get rid of the odor. I have tried several expensive brands of neutralizer from pet stores & not pleased with result v/s what I paid for the products. ... View related article.

RE: Inexpensive Pasta Dishes
Here's my recipe for an inexpensive Italian style pasta dinner:
1 box penne rigate or geminelli pasta
5-6 cloves minced garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning
2 tsp sugar(optional)
dash salt & pepper
2 28oz cans pear tomato strips with basil (I use walmart's brand, do not drain)
3 tbsp Classico sundried tomato pesto or regular pesto
Shredded italian blend cheese or mozzarella as desired or use parmesean if desired.
Saute garlic in olive oil in large frying pan. Add tomatoes, italian seasoning, sugar, salt & pepper. *Use a splatter screen on top of pan! Cook over medium high heat, stirring frequently until sauce reduces or cooks off most of the liquid, about 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium low and stir in pesto. Ready to serve.
Cook pasta as directed on box.
Sppon sauce over pasta, sprinkle cheese on top.
Serve with bread & side salad.

RE: Using Newspaper Under Mulch
It's not too late to do it, I add the newspaper around the plants as soon as I plant my tomato plants, etc. I sew rows & "hills" of green beans, squash, so i place the newspaper in between rows and around the hills, so the seeds can sprout. I use the mulch more to help hold the paper down in place. I leave it the entire season. I pull up the plants that die out, and leave all the paper & mulch in place until I till in the spring. I take a garden rake, pull back the mulch and till the decomposed newspaper into the soil. It really helped make my white clay soil much darker and richer. i also have a small goldfish pond in my natural area, during the summer when it needs cleaning, I use my garden hose to pump the old water, which is full of fish emulsions to water the garden. It may help deter cats since they wouldn't be able to dig down into the soil without a lot of effort. ... View related article.
