RE: My Frugal Life: Saving Money and Water
My husband does the same thing. We have a decorative pitcher next to the shower. When he puts the shower on to warm the water, he fills the jug and waters the plants. When he is done, he fills it up again. Now we have a cat who does not drink out of a water dish, she uses the filled pitcher of water! ... View related article.

RE: Weight Watchers Food Diary Sheets
I always carried a little notebook with me to write down my points or my food diary. It worked for me when I did not have any of the food diary sheets. If you need to know the points or the food exchanges, just look at an old Weight Watchers cookbook for the diet and log the food guide onto the first page of your notebook. Also, small index cards work. ... View related article.

RE: Keep a Phone Book in the Car
I put last year's phone book in my car. This really comes in handy, since my cell phone charges me $1.00 if I call information. This also helps with addresses for my GPS. ... View related article.

RE: Save Time and Money With Home Cooked Meals
I have often talked to my family and friends about this. It really does take more time to buy take-out than the cook something at home. The key is to have a well stocked pantry to get dinner on the table fast. ... View related article.

RE: Tips For Price Matching
I have found that the Super Walmart near me will match. I have had flyers for a competitor's store brand chicken which Walmart matched for the Purdue brand. The Super Walmart near me only has Purdue chicken and the organic chicken, so they matched the price with the Purdue chicken. I have not had a problem with the price matches. ... RE: Give to Food Banks in Lieu of Christmas Gifts
This is a great idea! I am not a rich person but my frugal ways have been good for my family. We have so much, we don't need any presents for the holidays. I would be very thankful if someone donated to a shelter, food bank or another organization instead of giving me a gift. ... View related article.

RE: Do You Really Need "New" Clothes?
I agree with you. I have so many items of clothing that I do not wear. I get most of my clothes on clearance, thrift shops or at yardsales. I tend to get classic clothes. I find trendy clothes are only for one season but classics can be worn for years. Each season, I weed out my clothes and donate them to the Red Cross or Salvation Army or the Boys/Girls Club.

My kids get a budget at the beginning of the school year of $100 for clothes. If they buy one pair of jeans for that amount, that's it for the year. They never do that! They are thrifty shoppers like me. They also buy at thrift and consignment stores. They get name brand items for $1.00, $2.00. Most of the time, they don't spend their entire amount. They can then save it for during the year, if they want additional items. This works for us and it keeps them on a budget. I feel this will help them in the future. ... View related article.
