Merry Christmas Kailey, thanks for the advice, we have a beautiful siamese looking mini lop, we love her and haven't been able to litter train her, so we clean up the floor after her everyday because we can't stand the idea of her having to live in a cage! White vinegar is on my shopping list. Blessings, Natalie ... View related article.
Ci Ci, thanks for the great idea. Our doors really leak alot of cold air, I have been using an old blanket that i tied up with small bungee cords at both ends, Not a pretty site!! I like your blanket sleeve idea, i will probably make a fall one now, and a Christmas one as I can't hide mine behind vertical blinds so why not make it colorful! it has to sit in front of the entry door. Thanks so much for the idea. Blessings, Natalie, SK, Canada ... View related article.

Hi Everyone, THANK YOU all so very much for all your feedback. Reiman Publications has been wonderful with emailing me back and forth for the last couple of months. Today, the new issue came to my friends mailbox, but not mine. I am now fairly certain that someone is actually taking my copy. We live in a really small town so having our mail delivered by accident to someone elses box is very unlikely, and its not happened in the 3 1/2 years we've lived here. So now we will be trying to put in a formal complaint about our local post office.
Everyone one else who subscribes to Country Woman, has gotten their issues, no missing ones at all. It makes no sense, and it really ticks me off! I used my birthday money to subscribe to it, it was supposed to be a real treat for me! I guess I should have kept borrowing it from our library. But thanks to everyone who took the time to send feedback and try to help out. Blessings, Natalie ... View related article.
Hi Terry, Thanks for the great idea! I have always done this with celery when I bring it home, but I never thought of doing the same with onions. Thanks so much for the great tip. If you don't do your celery this way already, now you can try my tip! Share and share alike, blessings, Natalie ... View related article.
Hi Bethany, Lasagna is definately not cheap to make, coupons and sales are a great idea for ingredients. I often buy cottage cheese when its reduced too, check to see its not bad, then pop it in the freezer until bake day. My little 'cheat" because cheese is SO expensive, is making a basic white sauce, melt marg, add flour, whisk, add milk and repeat until you have a good amout of white sauce in your little pot. then add a couple of good dollops of cheese whiz, taste and see if it tastes kind of cheesy! i always add pepper and salt too, and i use this cheat sauce between all my layers of lasagna and regular cheese on the top only. We also put out a small bowl of grated cheese on the table so it seems you're getting extra cheese, Its much cheaper to make lasagna this way. You can add frozen zucchini to the tomato sauce too if you have any in your freezer it stretches your sauce further. We make our cheese sauce for vegetables the same way, frugal is good LOL blessings, nallorey ... View related article.
My daughter has a lop rabbit, her cage has a wire bottom with a pullout tray underneath. It's metal, we put newspaper to line the bottom as it seems to soak up the urine and the smell that comes with it. Then we put shavings over the paper. It's cheap to buy shavings if you buy a "bale" of them. We buy ours at Walmart. A big bale is around $10 its compressed really tight and it does for months and months. We buy the cedar mixed shavings as our bunny doesn't stand in them, but I have heard that if they do, you need to use pine as cedar bothers them. We tried to litter train but it didn't work for us. ... View related article.
This is a family favorite of ours, Texas Brownies (Grandmas Card #81) this was a free mail out about 16 years ago ,
2 C Flour 2 C sugar 1 C marg.(2 sticks) 1 C strong coffee (leftover is fine) 1/4 C cocoa 1/2 C buttermilk ( or whats in the fridge!) 2 Large eggs 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp vanilla
In a large bowl combine flour and sugar, set aside
In saucepan, combine marg, coffee, and cocoa, stir and heat till it boils.
Pour boiled mixture over flour and sugar in the bowl. Add your milk, eggs, soda and vanilla. Mix well by hand or use you mixer.
Pour into well buttered 18 x 11 cookie sheet.
Frosting, Combine 1/2 cup marg, 2 TB cocoa, 1/4 C milk, in a saucepan, Heat to boiling, remove from stove Add 3 1/2 C icing sugar stir well, next add - 1 - 1/12 tsp of extract, we prefer peppermint, but you can use vanilla , or whatever you like.
Bake Brownies at 325 for about 20 min. or until they test done in the center. we have a convection oven so it bakes faster.
Cool brownies until warm, not hot, spread warm (not hot) frosting and good luck having any leftovers!!
We have been using the same kind of storage container for our cats for years! we leave the lid off and fill it with a full 20lbs of clumping kitty litter from zellers, only $8, no kitty litter on the floor, it tends to stay in the box, and the cats have some privacy when they are using it because of the height of the box. We scoop every day as we have 2 male cats who like it clean LOL If you have a zellers nearby, i don't think you can beat their "truly" brand of litter, its the best we've tried. And you don't need a refil very often iether, Blessings nallorey ...
